What is the size of a 14 billion bu. corn pile?

Need something to do?  Go figure what is the size of the entire US corn crop (14 billion bu.) if you put it on one single pile?  What would  be the diameter of the pile and how high would the peak be? 

I challenged a local farmer who was always good at "pushing the pencil."  Here is what he came up with.

The diameter of a 14 billion bu. of (dry) corn pile would be 1.288 miles.

The height of the peak would be 1,443 feet.

Did he do his math correct ?  How long would it take to fill that pile using a 10" auger?

At 43 million bushels per year, it is going to take a while with one 10 inch auger.

The question I have is are you talking the real bushel or are you talking 56 lb units and then of course which bushel if that is what you mean because with that many bu. the different sized bushels would make quite a difference.

And then of course if you are talking 56 lb units you would have to know the volume each 56 lb unit occuppied and again with that many it would make quite a difference in the size of the pile if it was good heavy corn or very light weight.

He was using 2,150.42 cu. in. for each volume  56lbs. unit.

Barchart will work sometimes and sometimes it won't

I have tried clearing the cookies, but all that does is lose the good place that barchart will work, using history

Haven't tried any frag stuff _I need somebody else to do that
