Going to test All 11 million residents there for covid 19.

Maybe the USA could voluntarily test everyone?

Re: Wuhan is

I think we’re at something like 2 pct. tested.

We need much more but obviously very limited supply should be prioritized to the highest risk areas.

Started covid 19 testing today for everyone that is working...

So basically if You want tested,  just go into a test center.

Re: Drive thru

"testing" doesn`t always mean testing either, this will invoke crickets from those politicizing the issue.  But early on the WHO tests were 70% accurate...well, what good is that??  When foreign countries say "we test everyone 100%!!!!" pat pat pat on the back, my question is : how accurate are your tests?

This country, we`re doing it right.

Re:Testing, Just now, in the Senate Hearing.

Currently, the US is testing about 250,000 per day, roughly a million per week.  Redfield just said, in order to do effective contact tracing we need 40-50 million tests per month, 10-12 million per week.  We have a long ways to go.

As far as test accuracy, the best test currently have about 5% false positives which means if you test 10 million people, 500,000 will show up as positive and require retesting.  The number of false negatives is less simply because there are fewer actual infected people but that's still a significant problem.   The false negatives are "walking grenades".

The false positives are not so much a problem because a false positive won't infect anyone but it gives a very misleading idea of how many people actually are infected.  For instance, recently, New York did a sample using antibody testing which suggested that 10% of the people in New York had been infected, 21% in the City, 3% in the rural upstate but in fact almost all the positives could be explained by "false positives".  So where does that leave any control strategy?

Re: Re:Testing, Just now, in the Senate Hearing.

Except for the fact that testing has been the essential element of the strategies in all the countries that have met the challenge much better than the US has.

Pretending it is a hoax, or wildly overblown, or we can't take effective measures because of whatever is not helpful.

Hopefully most Americans are patriotic enough to not behave irresponsibly- either in their personal actions or in the dissemination of information.

The WH is employing test and trace.

But the POTUS believes that doing it widely would make them look bad. He said that.
