You Gonna Make 235 BPA?

Eastern Illinois farmers are expected to have a good crop.  If their costs are $883 per acre, they sold nothing ahead and expect a price of $3.70/bushel, they'll need to make over 235 bpa to break even.  Think they'll do it?

Sure glad I don't farm there...

And no I don't think they'll make it... I bet if you were to plot it against standard deviation, those yields would be distributed Among a low population

$3.70 might be optimistic, I`m afraid there is going to be alot of pain and inputs aren`t doing what they should quickly enough. Expect alot of beans to be planted next year on the cheap.

The tide is going out and we`re gonna see who`s swimming naked and it ain`t gonna be pretty...I don`t wanna see it.

Find a farmer that has an average $ 883 cost per acre and has not contracted anything or covered himself with other marketing options.  Bet the list would be few, maybe even zero.

$883/acre for corn?
Our organic corn silage growers in Oregon don't have that much into an acre! 6 ton of chicken litter @$50=$300, $150 for seed , two passes with a tine weeder = $40, ground rental @ $400/acre, harvest cost I'm not sure about. Total is $940.... Ok I was mistaken about the cost. Gross sales dollars on average in the valley for organic corn silage = $2500. Net about $1500/acre.

According to USDA they will. So no problem. They outta make it

Don't have much sympathy if they don't.

From what I see, a lot of them will probably make 235 bpa or more. Very few will average $ 3.70 per bu.
