Your weekend Nickel
That`s John K Hanson founder of Winnebago Motorhomes. He was in the funeral home business, sold farm machinery, bunch of other endeavors and finally hit it big with Winnebago. In the early 70s there were more millionaires in Forest City per capita than the Hamptons (I can`t back that up), but there were many. That Winnebago stock went up and split and split again something like 16 times.
As I drive through the country, it`s crazy the amount of Bald Eagles I see out there 4, 5 of `em in a flock. As a kid, you rarely saw a Bald Eagle and the words "flock" and "eagles" weren`t something you`d ever say in a sentence. The Eagles really like those dead pigs out of hog barns.
On a sad note Cody`s Barbeque in Sioux Falls is permanently closed. I asked someone and they said "owner retired" the small casino is still open.

Was DDT really the problem or shall I say "problem" with lack of Eagles? (they kill pets, you know). But these hog barns really attract the Eagles, they don`t have to swoop into the river for a fish. They just beat the rendering truck to the hog site in the morning. 🙂

Don`t birds need calcium for thick eggshells?
We buy "farm fresh" eggs from acreage producers and they actually have thin shells, my thought is they let the chickens run free and nutrition isn`t their biggest concern. Store bought eggs generally are thick, but I actually know it`s going to be a tasty egg when it cracks easily on the edge of the pan.
