ag-poll suggestion

Why would anyone think the grain markets are adaquate when we were at current levels(wheat) in 1974.Also as I have said before $4.40 in 1996 was a much better price with less fundimental than we have now at the current price..How about asking if a new combine is to high or to low,or a months worth of health coverage for the family. How about the cost of diesel, fertilizer, construction, new cars, new pickups, tractor tires, engine oil, filters,or even a college education for the son or daughter. Any one who thinks this price is realy some thing needs to get their head out of the third world clouds! If this post is hard to understand, you flunked third grade mathamatics!

Re: ag-poll suggestion

The only arguement to your post is the increase in yields from 1974, 1996 etc. Otherwise I agree with your comparisons....MikeM

And I will add the reduction in the number of farmers.

Around here there is probably only 1 farmer where there were 10 in the 1970ies.

Re: ag-poll suggestion

Do not realy know about corn and bean yealds, but in the world of soft white wheat we had 145 bu. in 1974 and over 132 bu. in 1975. These same numbers are are obtainable today, but not realy any better.Averages seem to be around the same with a lot higher cost of production. As far as one farm for 10,thats happend here also.Less owners, more minimum wage workers, and more unemployed.Smell the socialistic coffee yet?
