Re: are you ready to sign the petition now ?

You need to research just what it is trump pulled us out of, all you hear is the word trade and you think it is good for you and your wheat products. The TPP is a control everything type of agreement some of it with the power of a treaty. By the way treatys are above our constitution.

Re: are you ready to sign the petition now ?

Correct me if im wrong but TPP wasn't even doing anything for the country yet.  It was not in effect.

Re: are you ready to sign the petition now ?

IF...we were not in it, and it was not in effect....then why would we need an exective order to get us out of it ????

Re: are you ready to sign the petition now ?

Because it appears our leadership had signed it back in February 2016, though that signature was apparently  'non-binding' and/or subject to approval or ratification, which remained pending.

Nothing changes because of Trump's move. Congress had not yet approved the TPP -- its fate was bleak on Capitol Hill no matter what the White House did -- and the deal had not yet taken effect.

By the way I found that sentence on CNN so it cannot be fake news

Both Bernie and HRC both opposed the TPP also, although HRC has flipped for votes. There was a good chance it would have been attempted to be modified no matter who got in.

Re: are you ready to sign the petition now ?

Good humor Booked 2,

If I'm correct only one country had even considered TPP ....... Japan.

President Trumps signature just took it off the legislatures schedule.

I still find it a mess that it has been signed since february of last year and the documents have yet to be made public.

Yet that many special interest groups had a strong opinion on the "Partnership"

Was it an attempt to create law that was above the jurisdiction of the Constitution or the Supreme court.. ?Environmental law by treaty.....??

Re: are you ready to sign the petition now ?

The U.S. Supreme Court, in Missouri v. Holland, 252 U.S. 416, 40 S. Ct. 382, 64 L. Ed. 641 (1920), established that U.S.treaties are superior to state law. Acts of Congress, however, are equivalent to a treaty. Thus, if a treaty and a law ofCongress are inconsistent, the one later in time prevails. The Court has never found a treaty to be unconstitutional, and fewtreaties have been challenged. In general, the Court views a dispute over a treaty as a Political Question outside itsjurisdiction.

Re: are you ready to sign the petition now ?

Just curious, which of our major farm organizations endorsed or favored approval of the TPP, and why?
