Re: cx1..........
How simple a solution. But, wrong. In the process you wind up denying the very processes the developing world has used to leap ahead. I don't care whether you agree or not but you have to accept the facts.
Government investment can result in huge productivity gains. That's how China has done it. And Japan. And Korea. And Taiwan. And Singapore. In fact, with the exception of Japan, none of those I named were even democracies when they did it. Think of them as domestic Marshall Plans - which succeeded by all accounts.
Whether you like it or not is immmaterial. But, you can't claim to understand economics if you don't understand how investment works.
Yeah, I know, every country has problems. So what. Check on countries that are relatively stable and have balanced budgets. Like Canada, only lightly hurt by The Great Recession, because they restructured and reregulated prior to the meltdown (and they have national healthcare). Prior to that they had a deficit and debt that was worse than ours compared to GDP up to their restructuring of the financial regulations for banking, etc.
Generalizations based on ideology aren't going to cut it. For instance, if Republicans win this election (Romney) then recent history indicates greater deficits then their predessesors. It's generally true in recent times. Since the same policies seem to be advocated .... well .... why not? It's exactly why 'pay as you go' (every program or cut has to have an identified source of funding to finance it so there is no net deficit) was cut by the Bush administration.
So, be specific. Like SS is an underwriters dream since population and growth was a very well known issue. Any issues could have been taken care of long ago - but neither party was willing to do it so reform was abandoned - and that was in the '80's. Like shooting a rocket to the moon, corrections made early in the flight only need to be small. But if you wait until you get within the vacinity of the moon the growth in deviation can be huge and insurmountable.
Our problems are basically political - not economic.

Re: cx1..........
Palouser,
If my observations are too simple. It's ok. I like fixing one problem at a tme.
But I am not simple enough to think that that economic issues(bubble after bubble) in the last few years in the US can be seperated from our political problem. They go down together.

Re: cx1..........
We have a total of 25 employees and are blessed that things are going well even in this long recession but we don't care if we get taxed more if we make more. That is a point that really doesn't bother us. So I guess my point is that we focus on making our businesse s succeed and we do not care what the government is doing. We are not sitting around waiting for the government to make decisions.

Good answer to Mizzou (bobblehead) Tiger. Most successful businessmen and women view it the same way you do--thank goodness.
Thanks.

Re: cx1..........
ask him if he offered insurance before bobblecare........
also ask him if he pays for it, or if the employees do...........or what the split is...........
as with everything else, insurance should be a choice............while most use it.........having to get it because some government bobblehead said so is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.......
so unless GIO is paying the full premium (doubt it)............someone that doesnt want insurance is BEING TAXED............which is the exact loophold the SUPREME COURT IS USING............THEY ARE CALLING IT A TAX, WHICH IS LEGAL............
so ITS A TAX, YET BOBBLEHEAD SAID HE WAS LOWERING TAXES............
EDIT: you boyz need to get with it here............this is sad...........one little sacrifice at a time............yet I am still waiting to see if you boyz will donate some land and grain to someone less fortunate..........SING IT BOYZ, YOU BOBBLEHEAD IS WAITING BY THE CAMPFIRE...........

Mizzou Bobblehead Tiger:
You ask him. You are the one who is questioning his business practice.
Make sure you cast your vote for willard. He is about as closed minded as you.

Re: cx1..........
Today I had to go to one of those big box stores. As I approached the entrance, I noticed a driver looking for a parking space.
I flagged the driver and pointed out a handicap parking space that was open and available.
The driver looked puzzled, rolled down her window and said, "I'm not handicapped!"
Well, as you can imagine, my face was red!
"Oh, I'm sorry" I said. "I saw your Obama bumper sticker and just assumed that you suffer from a mental disorder."
She gave me the finger and screamed some nasty names at me.
Boy!
Some people just don't appreciate it when you're just trying to help them out!
