feedyard Talk. 3/17. 10:3o pm
Weather ---- Wind blew the snow away.
futures
Cattle plump shopper pens. 122.025 Up. O.575
shapely young spring break cattle headed to full feed. 150.175 Up 0.45
Feeders are at the high end of trading range and possibly in a sell position for coffee money. If grains blow into higher territory they will go up more but not without higher grains. IMO
What a good sale of corn and timely as well…… took all the buyers official media info streams by surprise Wednesday to effectively bring things to dead silence….. It was wonderful......
It was a wonderful sale and should get most storage cleaned out and swept. Delivery may have to be delayed until the new southern corn can help fill the promise.
Wheat acres got hammered this week as it was the final date to take the short side of insurance for wheat on acres that won't be cut for grain. Many acres were declared now that the sw region has moisture to run with ---- a lot of acres will be grazed out with cattle and insurance companies confirmed that this week..... Lots of weak wheat and the extreme freeze is high risk....... In this case rain will make grain..... just not wheat. The best will be left for the combine maybe 30%.
We may not hear of that corn sale again until next fall.
Grains
Corn @ 5.55. down a little after setting a new high Wednesday
Wheat @ 5.98 down another. 2.6
Beans @ 14.144. down 3
Cotton @ 87.00 Up. 0.51
Natural gas is a low $2.539 per McF. down. 0.016
Crude oil 64.12 . down 0.48
-------------------------------------
Fertilizer is primarily a factor of natural gas in this area and has no reason to be up other than price gouging which is encouraged by congress in their how to be a good monopoly training.

Speaking of Congress on the local front, driving the wrong way in Topeka on I 470 , seems to have different consequences for Sunflower State politicians - with hollowing out charges, momentarily - ?

I am "out of the loop" on Topeka and its "elementary teachers union governor". They care little about anything west of Salina or Wichita and I care little for them. Surely the old gov. let class out and took her double pay to Cancun along with many other teachers. For the last year and half of next.
Best thing that ever happened to education......... brought teachers out into the "light". A career most likely to leave.

Kansas Senator driving confusion on I 470 , will add to legislative majority leadership confusion - - -
Union in his party might be tested , even though it appears he was exempt from testing , with oversight & too much over regulation , this instance , being the case - which could , might lead to marketing missteps , maybe - ?

It is a tough world out there when there is no-one on the road to show you which way to go....
Blame the Governor of the other party for lockdown of mental faculties.
Wichita senator........ kansas and agriculture in general, is not involved in this case at all..... except we will have to pay for his rehabilitation and driver retraining and student loans. Along with those other travelers who were traumatized by his mistakes...... millions depending on color...............(of the car)
