feedyard talk 2/1. 4/12 pm .......A personal note to SF
IMO................ Mr Scott and the EWG is in fact, a political hit squad, no different than ANTIFA or BLM, or those who stand behind the environmental shield(Sierra Club might fit in also). Groups that are fringe political and very favorable to socialistic anarchy. They all threaten federal agencies into revealing personal information on recipients of federal payments so they can expose and slander private citizens as they generate their latest tragedy or scandal.
These are not good organizations...... they all want to demand the power to tell us all what is right or wrong, through ridicule and egocentric pride in their view of the right way. They don't want to have representation in congress. That is not enough. They want to direct and control USDA with their claim to "environmental" authority through tactics like you can observe in The article on the SF website..... an irony when usda has always worked for environmental well being.
Attack on individual farmers facilitated by usda's data should not be part of usda's agenda or Successful Farming to say the least. Examples are too easy to find. (Like farmers that face jail time for a weather phenomena tragedy like listeria. These organizations are far too quick to condemn the producer of that melon, and ignore the inspector that missed it or the weather event that caused it. Because hanging a rich farmer makes the non profit into a public watch dog..... sudo hero. USDA's "best friend forever".)
Especially when we are following 3 years when there were no farm subsidy payments for crop producers and all business entities in every county was subsidized in far larger federal subsidies. (I gotta ask, did EWG get a large PPP payment?
It is time to stop and, as writers and publishers of a rag we all take a little pride in, stare these con artists who work behind a federal tax non profit dodge.......look them in the eye and consider what they really are doing. EWG proved to us that they do not deserve to have a farmers tax returns. Have some integrity and write an article on the parasites that prey on the usda employee base and successfully, along with their professors in college, try to convince them that agriculture and the farmers they serve are greedy, too big, or stealing from the taxpayers.
Life is much more interesting and complicated than the easy you will get from EWG.
I rank EWG right down there with those who fund raise on pictures of sick animals. They are not "non profits" -- they deal in deductible cash contributions over questionable integrity information........ and mostly they deal in political power.
In my book they don't deserve any status.

Re: feedyard talk 2/1. 4/12 pm .......A personal note to SF
How do we compare it to this country's early day - plantation owner - so called, work force , historical data = ?
Now days I am hearing shouts & handwringing from Congressional Halls about foreign ownership of production agriculture land , which seems awfully , awkwardly late, for the party other than a pep rally, stalling call penalty = = =
I have been grilled from urban relatives , on various EWG topics , and they might have some legitimate points on certain topics , such as crop insurance subsidy payments vs. their business insurance premiums = = =
AND drawing a line in front of & through NON- PROFITS , the examples would be endless , with some mega religious outfits making headline$ much to often = = =
Another topic of discussion being the lack of teachers , employment , nurse - medical workforce , in rural settings, might be addressed by the folks that bring us those mega machinery options , and why those GOV $$$$ don't retain some more of these folks , instead of the depletion of rural small town USA = = =
These are the questions I am asked by my urban relatives , and we must honestly grapple with them , like the headlines of pricefixing by meat outfits lawsuits settlements , unless your involved with a custom arraignment of daily care , don't rock the boat , as they , our customer consumer , read the articles = = =
Kinda like , a short while back , don't sell - trade with , those commies , anything , of course , unless it's grains & soy for their US pork production = = =
Product Of USA , a very cleaver ( not EWG origin) , word'z smith'Z , brought to , enlightened by guess whom , AND the current beef meeting in New Orleans, may , might, could , sidestep that topic of check off proportions = = =
Will SF, 20K acres of Mississippi River Delta spiel , encourage the retention of drought'd out momma cows , to stick around another season , to make available feeders for those integrated , feed pens , while marching those train units to panhandle destinations = ? = ? Boasting rights , always come'$ with humble , KARMA pie at some conjecture , even Elon can't avoid = = =

Re: feedyard talk 2/1. 4/12 pm .......A personal note to SF
I don't expect much out of the uneducated populous or any organization that cannot provide productivity with the federal dollars that keep them alive. It is just all meaningless screams for government funding. Stop the problem.... find something else to do during holidays.
We have only one hope....... distancing our livelihood from the Federal con men that live on the DC credit card. EwG being the subject for today. If you had the example of its divisive intent within family, distance yourself from fools.
My quoting this from EWG wiki page is more extensive research compared to their work
"Cook started the Environmental Working Group in 1993, and since its inception they have provided research geared to reforming agriculture policy, advancing conservation techniques and environmental protection. At the onset of debate over the 1995 Farm Bill, the EWG compiled information on who received the money set aside for conservation efforts. The data sets "sift[ed] through a complex web of corporations, partnerships and other business entities," which allowed the USDA to assign specific dollar amounts to the individuals behind the businesses.[4]
Not EWG research........ it is usda research for which cook claims credit.
In the 1990s, EWG’s research was a major factor in the passage of the landmark pesticide reform law, the Food Quality Protection Act. EWG was among the first to draw attention to the health threat posed by the weed-killer atrazine and conducted the first extensive tests for the chemical in tap water in 29 Midwest cities. In the last several years Cook and EWG have been in the forefront of national and state campaigns to require the labeling of foods that contain genetically engineered ingredients."----- from the EWG founders wiki page.
Hogwash....... false claims. Atrazine's demonization has furnished EWG with a cross to bear. Yet the herbicide used since 1960 has yet to be proven a public hazard of any magnitude. Restrictions have been increased over the years because of its longer persistence in the soil. A wonderful trait for some regions.

The sensational internet age allows us all to spout half truth on limited knowledge. 🙂

I believe this parasite was spawned at the University of Missouri----
The following is a good read on EWG that SF staff might consider ........
https://www.activistfacts.com/organizations/environmental-working-group-ewg/
a quote---"What readers are rarely told is that these studies are often based on extremely thin evidence and have a tendency to jump to conclusions unsupported by the science. Before taking anything this ridiculous group has to say seriously, it’s important to understand EWG’s pattern of peddling falsehoods. Here’s a sampling of some of the EWG’s greatest misses from the last 20 years:-----"

Don't know when Cook graduated, but I don't blame the Univ of MO. Ken Cook originated around Affton MO (decent area, basically south St. Louis), and likely influenced by the many industrial & governmental environmental abuses over there over the years, has a degree in Soil Science. Yet, look also at the career and connections of his activist wife Deb Callahan.

Re: feedyard talk 2/1. 4/12 pm .......A personal note to SF
In the 1993 to 95 time frame. I did a little reading because a lot of this "should" be far behind us. I did not want to be inaccurate.
It struck me that You can wiki personal information on nearly everyone in the public eye, but these two have very little history, yet we know the home address for every sitting Supreme Court justice .
His College degrees are listed without a year of graduation or a home location. I did see a note that they now reside in Northern California. Her info places her there in college.... and yes her life in political activism is long and often struggles with historic reality.(Al Gore days especially)

Re: feedyard talk 2/1. 4/12 pm .......A personal note to SF
Wikipedia is self-policing and relies on its community of volunteer editors to improve the quality and accuracy of the pages over time. It's the "wisdom of crowds" principle in action
"Community of volunteer editors"
So it more or less depends on which side of the political axe to grind, and who is doing the "Volunteer editing"
More curated information in some ways by the "volunteers"

I have viewed it as a self correcting/promotion location for the most part. The content is whatever the reader/writer will allow. Maybe there is more oversight than that but I doubt it.
