Really Palouse...a "lagging indicator". 2008 happened 3 YEARS before there was an actual corn shortage. Take even part of E out of the equation and world feed grain supplies are over-abundant. Times change, gov policies change, the markets still work. Demand is being reduced, it is just never reduced for the rich unless they want to reduce it. ie US gas consumption has declined despite econ activity increasing. SPECS own at least 2 BILLION bu of beans. That is demand brought forward NOT LAGGED. jmo

Corn yields this year will surprise alot of people on the "better than expected scale" considering just how truly terrible the weather has been.

I'll be the first to say it, 170 bu/ac for the US national yield in 2013. Peak corn, squeak corn. As an old friend would say....GET-A-LIFE.

O and we were expected 30 to 50........ended closer to 20.......so it goes both ways.......

O and corn buyers are calling in the middle of harvest in this area.......LMAO......good thing there is some good looking 2011 corn around cause they are paying additional premium.........

Wasn't 2008 about wheat supply ------- not corn.  Corn was just along for the ride.  Is my memory that bad---------I am sure usda told me we were growing more corn every year about that time------------

it was wheat in 2008 - Minneapolis went to 24 or so. now, we have other 2 w/ problems + hard wheat  may soon become one.
