fire in the sky

Only the third day this month I have had a sunny day

Just the opposite in Kansas, I can't keep my feeders full and probably don't even need to be feeding yet since my pasture still has waste tall grass. Going to get real cold here for a few days, maybe that has something to do with it.

FWIW, the covers I hayed this past spring of oats, field peas & radishes are their roughage of choice. 11 pair and a bull will go through a 1500# bale in about 30 hours with absolutely 0 waste.

are you feeding any grain along with that hay

No grain, but I am feeding cubes once or twice a week.

why the cubes?  Oat and pea mix hay should have plenty of protein, I would think.

It's a new herd to us and the cubes are helping them settle in and warm up to us.
