I don't know why you would be worried about someones long time ownership of grains.    I only wish i had the money cushion to be able to hold years of grain.  Those who are holding longer than 15 month cycle probably don't have to many money worries.

It is all about tax policy. Even liberal Krafty who espouses paying all the tax you can held his beans. 

Personally I haven't lost anything, net money wise. Do the arithmetic on a 40% + tax bracket. 

Fed income tax

Social security tax both halves

State income tax

Local school income tax

Affordable health care surtax

I am on strike, I am NOT going to pay another six figure tax bill as long as obummer is in office.

No I'm no going to bag a crop either. We are just Argentina north.

I had a new tractor and planter picked out,  the $25,000 deduction just isn't going to cut it. Decided I'm not paying forward on income tax.

I'm very tired of getting all the risk and work and then sharing the rewards.to such a large degree. They are not entitled just because they suck air.

I actually thought about buying one of these, but I don't have enough grain to justify owning one and not for sure if I could do custom work or not.     

Not haven't sold my 13 crop, at least the corn, I don't forward price cash grain for this year yet.

Actually Kraft-t is not holding his beans for tax postponement. He was holding his beans for a higher price and obviously it was the wrong thing to do. However, i am caple of admitting error which seems to be an impossibility for most posters.

$17 beans would have meant a higher tax bill than $15, $14, $13 or $12. The objective was to pay more taxes rather than less as it is every year. If tax savings were the primary concern, I would cash rent the ground and pay no SS taxes.

Kraft is stating the very obvious. It's disengenuous to be trying to twist it around for some ideological non-point. He's making the very same point that those who get special tax breaks or welfare - including farmers. He's following the rules as written.
