The UK variant is behaving exactly how you'd expect.

Like April last year, this more virulent variant is surging most heavily in northern cities- the South somewhat less, for now, since they're heading outdoors, opening buildings etc. Their test, like last year, will be when they head indoors for AC but they should? have the advantage of lots of vaccinations by then.

But it will move out from the cities and find a nice home in places where vaccination rates are low.

Data now proves that not only is this one more contagious, it is also landing more, younger, healthier people in the hospital. If you have kids in your household a Danish study said 100% household transmission- if they get it you will too.

You don't need that as you're preparing to go to the fields. Both Pfizer and Moderna are close to 80% effective 2 weeks after one dose and likely near 100% effective against the level of disease that could really wreck you.

It could be a farm saver.

Seeing an increase in Ontario to levels greater than any time before and many more young people who are ending up in hospital AND ICU's

I have done my part with my first shot and clinics are available through out this area for more to get protection for everyone because your vaccination protects you AND everyone you come in contact with

Even after two months, 30-40% of 65 & older remain unvaccinated, locally I get alerts three times a week offering vaccination appointments so I know that supply isn't an issue anymore.  We can only assume that any older person who isn't vaccinated, doesn't want to be vaccinated.

  State governments must have come to that same conclusion because they all have opened up vaccinations to younger populations, some as young as 30.  They're thinking, forget the stubborn oldsters, they've had their chance, just get as many vaccinated who want it as possible.

  Meanwhile, governments are dropping or scaling back mitigation measures which will inevitably lead to increased spread and more cases.  Inevitably,  some percentage of those unvaccinated seniors will pay the price for their stubbornness.

  Nationally, 41% of Republican men say they're not going to get vaccinated, compared to less than 10% Democrat men.  All the republican voter suppression in the world won't help the republicans come 2022 & 2024.

  Ironic, isn't it, trump is literally killing off his own supporters.

The 3 of you are quite a group. sd's post is well said and makes the positive points. BA's is without scientific merit, but hey it used to be a free country so if he wants to risk it, it is his risk. Then of course Rick follows Alice down the rabbit hole into complete lunacy. Just offending people to just be offensive. Grow up dude. Plus Rick is way behind the times, IN is down to 16 and up on vacs. We'll be 100% shot up by May 15th likely, just in time for a big race on Memorial Day with full attendance....    🙂

Vaxing was lambasted initially as a political statement, which is a bit of truth. Actually, it's an intelligence test at this point in human vaccination history. Mother Nature is thinning the herd again, a natural process.  Your participation is non-voluntary.

I agree with Time.  Used to be a free country where opinions different from yours might elicit an eye-roll but not denigration. Some people feel it necessary to ridicule others for a different opinion, but I think doing so just exposes insecurities on the insulters' part. My rural county of 6500 people already has 2650 people with one or both of their vaccine shots. All my elderly neighbors already have both their shots, as do my and my wife's parents. I know a few younger people in their 20's that are taking a wait and see attitude, and they explain that for old people, IF there are any unknown long-term side effects to the vaccine, it won't really matter. But if you're young and take a vaccine to avoid a cold that is 99+% recoverable and 10 years from now you have some severe side effect, that's a big deal.  I can respect that attitude. 

I am actually more worried about the dollar than the virus myself. I'm sure someone will respond to ridicule me about that...

I suspect that substantial geographic pockets of under vaccination will remain across IN and elsewhere.

Daily deaths will probably continue to run in the hundreds through the Summer after probably surging back over 1k for a few weeks here.

By Summer, most of those will effectively be suicides and acts of terrorism against our country. The sooner we get to a very high vaccination level the sooner life and the economy can recover.

Ken, thanks for deciding not to troll me. But I was wondering if your “It will go away in April” call hurt the guru business any?

Now if someone had said that the heavens were about to open up and rain money on farmers- particularly large livestock operations- that would have been some spectacular clairvoyance.

As a general rule, nobody ever went broke in the guru game by telling people what they want to hear- particularly if it is just a tangential matter that can help estabish affinity.

Not hard to know where near 100% of "agriculture" stands, or how you should position yourself accordingly.
