how many unplanted acres of beans?
Mo. Farmer Today paper that I got Sat. said there were still 1.5 million in Mo., 850,000 in Ill., 300,000 in Ia., and 660,000 in Ind..
According to family in Neb. they still have beans to plant there also. The report also showed across the Northern half of Mo. (where IMO 75% of the states beans are grown) they are only 60 some percent emerged. There has been NO beans planted now for 3 wks. so whatever hasn't emerged is NOT going to emerge. That means that 30% of what is planted needs to be replanted. Do the math and you come up with at least 3.5 million acres still unplanted at 40 bu.per ac. is 130 million bu. without taking in possible other areas like KS, Neb., Ohio etc. that may not be completely planted or what needs to be replanted. Yesterday was our final plant date here for crop insurance. A lot of frustration in our area and I look for many acres to go into prevent plant unless the bean market can push higher and entice farmers to go ahead and plant more.

Re: how many unplanted acres of beans?
From Peoria to Chicago the beans do not look like a bin buster. Not only do they look bleak but 10% of my beans are under water and once we get into July it might not be worth replanting. I haven't been to western Illinois but some have said that they are having an even tougher time with water. The beans from route 80 to the north will have to learn how to swim. The corn on the other hand, looks better than it did at this time last year but obviously not as good as Iowa.

Re: how many unplanted acres of beans?
There are 40 acres of beans near me ready to plant. The BTO's drill has been parked there for 2 weeks waiting for it to dry out.

Re: how many unplanted acres of beans?
Im from northeast mo. I would say in our county at least 50 percent of the beans are not in the ground. What is in the ground is poor at best. I lacked 100 acres of corn being planted and have around 400 acres of beans to go would have been 300 acres if I had got the corn in. THere might be a 100 acres of corn that is really good, other than that the rest is pretty poor. Last time we ran was memorial weekend. Just got about 7 inches since friday night.

Re: how many unplanted acres of beans?
USDA is saying 93% planted or 7% left to go. 7% of 78.1 million acres = 5.5 x 10 bu/acre yield hit for late planting = 55 million bushels lost taking ending stocks from 360 million down to 305. Still no shortage unless some of those acres don't get planted at all or the national yield figure comes down some. Taking the US yield down to 2008/09's 39.7 bu/acre would make all the difference.

Re: how many unplanted acres of beans?
Well I did my part to help yesterday. I filed prevent plant on my last 13% of projected production. I could be planting them today but I choose not to. My APH times 80% times 60% times $9.23 is greater than my projected yield times harvest price minus planting costs. Got to know when to fold em.
