You`re not a troll K-289, you`re just a run of the mill Liberal and we love you.  However the candidates you support are the same as Bill Maher`s choices.   Smiley Happy

Ohh wait that was a scam too.  Now and in the future most of his family and “friends” will all be in jail.  Whiny little three legged dog , that’s all he is.  Feel the Bern.. Bernie , Bernie

Re: if you’re gonna fight then fight!

Bernie...... formerly ..... sort of  Liberally leftly independent when nancy allows him to speak...... Possibly once Mr Wipple.

A running joke until the left found themselves without a candidate that can look good to anyone outside the mentally unstable alliance of faithful voters.  Which in either party can't get elected without some middle ground draw.  Bernie doesn't even draw democrats well, unless we are all going to throw in a vote that says "we hate DC so much that we will elect Bernie-(the all talk and no expectations candidate)

What is Bernie's position on agriculture ?  Does he allow it in his alternate universe?  Will he retrain us all or just open the border and say "free Land"?  No taxes and open borrowing for all?  So far I have not seen him answer a tough question.  Or even get one.  Even Bernies marrauders in the millenial ski masks are only with him for the wipe out of their overpriced vacations at college and the desperation that comes from having baby boomer parents----I'm not sure they want the democratic socialistic society either......... Maybe they just want an opportunity to function in a stable society.

Once again agriculture goes into another election year with very limited ...... well lets call it "clothespin" on the nose, choices.  We couldn't be farther from having an agriculture candidate if we tried..  Like him or not the opposition is offering little in alternatives to our President.

Bernie is a bad joke

the fact that a man, using that term loosely, can get to adulthood without holding down a paycheck, and then make a career out of politics says something very sad about the voters.

All the "never Hillary" honorable liberals must really have a sick feeling in their tummies after Bernie took the hush money from the Clintons and bought the oceanfront property and the $90000 luxury car.

So, how does a guy that never made a dime outside of politics end up with a current net worth over $3.5 million?

Bare chested, in the former USSR singing "This land is your land, this land is my land" on his honeymoon.....

I think guys were executed for less offenses in the past in the USA.

That would be as opposed to a guy whose Dad's vast fortune went through him like #### through a goose?

Re: Bernie is a bad joke

FWIW, as in all areas, Warren has the most detailed plan for farm and rural development policy.

Not necessarily a great thing to many, since the modern GOP doesn't do policy, it does ideology.

Dunno, but with farm income cratering and manufacturing in a recession, things aren't exactly looking up in American Carnage land.

Trump's worldview appears to be stuck in ca. 1975 New York, which was a mess. Today, cities are doing pretty well and rural areas are hurting. The Case/Deaton data on declining life expectancy is pretty hard to get around.

That's a matter of degree- not so much in rural places close to an urban economic generator. And the very richly endowed and fairly sparsely populated upper midwest seems to be about a generation back on the decline curve compared to a lot of other rural places.

Re: Bernie is a bad joke

Lets not whitewash urban centers too much..... for instance ---- even with the downward slide in farm incomes the last 4 years..... if the government decided to borrow and buy every bushel of crop raised in the US at a somewhere above cost rate, I doubt it would be anywhere close to the taxpayer $$ flowing into urban areas on an annual basis.  Even in a measure of employment and jobs available, most urban areas are not going to compete well with rural areas---- Iowa being an excellent example... since there are no major urban centers there... look at the manufacturing and ag related jobs -- compared to neighboring Illinois which is burdened with two large urban areas that struggle financially.  anyway Im not sure the urban /rural comparison is a good one ---- nor is it a political one, outside of being able to use creative district boundaries to change voter odds.

Ag has got to retake the relevance ground.  Right now all of the voters below the age of 75 think we can harvest the world for cheap food to complain about.  Then demand it be produced "our way" (us folks who've never fed ourselves with a hoe or a harvested our own fruit.  In the propaganda political wars we have been a looser both ways.  On the one hand we have been turned into bernies 1%ers , and we do plenty of self destruction calling each other welfare queens ..... and if we haven't done that, we have allowed it, by setting back looking guilty as charged.

I don't see agriculture becoming important in the US until we see either shortages of supply ,   or we see the flow of borrowed money stop to everyone who wants to claim some sort of disadvantage from his neighbors(education, welfare, foodstamps etc etc ... it all uses the same guilt formula.  When we stop hemoraging red ink and start looking like a population that can live up to our history and be happy doing a job they love without getting filthy rich and buying a baseball team in retirement, then we will see prosperity again... we will never borrow ourselves into prosperity.... the housing boom should have been a painful lesson and eventually it will.  Lying our way into Law School does not create a leader who will be willing to make a tough decision or do what is right when voters will not like it.

Higher priced food would help a lot.... but just teaching respect and appreciation for each other instead of the crap I watched yesterday on the cartoon channel telling children how bad capitalism is and how good a society is where everyone makes the same........ History from 1890 to 1945 would have to be totally ignored to believe the foolishness that is being preached in our schools by "our" teachers.  I have a friend by the name of Ivanov who's father watched his father and his 10 siblings die from starvation after being shipped by train from Ukraine to Siberia leaving their wheat crop, land, home, animals and possessions all to be sold by the government using the same promises of prosperity for all,  the left and bernie use today in the US.  three generations later he is doing what he can to support his two sons who have immigrated to the US per his wishes... ironically to live next to the volga germans who immigrated to avoid the same tyranny ... it is interesting to here him compare modern day ukraine to the US... obviously he has a strong feeling over the crippling of tight socialism and the corruption it breeds in society.  Nothing there compared to our families opportunities in the last 4 generations( even in lowly Kansas)

I think there is no hope with the choices we have in the Dem. Party as of today.... the party made an obvious choice not to accept responsibility for its loss and continues to rant.   If it somehow wins an election it will be a loss for the country.  If Trump wins it could be a loss for the country....... if so, viewing the excesses and congressional activity of the last 30+ years it will still be hard to blame him...... He may just be the guy who happened to be in the office when the house of cards fell.

Re: Bernie is a bad joke

Blue states with large urban areas tend to be net contributors to the Federal budget- rural, red ones, particularly in the south, tend to be the net beneficiaries.

Re: Bernie is a bad joke

One of the inevitabilities of the neoliberal winnowing of agriculture is that it just isn't an efficient transmitter of public spending to rural development.

There needs to be a standalone argument in both cases- agriculture and rural development.

Power washing hog barns is a job, but not a great one. Nor is cutting up hogs in a non-union plant. You Know Who tends to take those if offered.
