market manipulation ???
Why does Jacob Bunge of the Wall Street Journal write two articles on friday, April 11th,(the day of the usda report) that contain absolutely false information.
8:40 am
U.S. Corn Exports to China Dry Up Over GMO Concerns
5:00 pm
China's Shut-Out of American Corn Won't End Anytime Soon
quote------
China's tougher stance on imports of genetically modified corn is roiling U.S. agribusiness, largely halting trade in the biggest U.S. crop in its fastest growing market. By one industry estimate, exports are down by 85% compared with last year.
Quote------
Industry executives say the issue has hobbled U.S. corn exporters as they face heightened competition from other countries, such as Ukraine and Brazil.
Any connection to the fact that the April USDA supply and demand report came out the same day and said the opposite about corn exports?
Friday must have been a good payday for mister Bunge.

Re: market manipulation ???
SW, see how is a human trader supposed to trade this contradictory information 🙂 I guess that`s why high speed computers are taking over. However that HFT has an Achillies heel, when there`s a "fat fingered" market move and things move out of the normal price ranges, everything goes haywire for them.
I guess if "they" are going to manipulate the prices down, I`d rather they do it before the planters roll and I have any to sell. Lower prices now hopefully will ensure that fringe acres get planted to peanuts and not corn and the corn mapnipulators will paint themselves in a corner, especially if there`s weather concerns this summer.

Re: market manipulation ???
Crophugger,
It would be nice to know who scripted the information ------------ It actually came out two days after the usda report. And I suppose writing a rehash in the afternoon is what lazy reporters do on a friday.
But I find it hard to believe a writer who covers commodities in chicago does not know what the usda report said. Or a simple year to year comparison.
I wonder what percentage of the words printed as informational news is researched? And what percentage is actually just a "by line" on the prepared script? Like a paid for advertisement.
You have a point. Maybe there was no payday. Maybe he just wants to keep his job, or a connection.
Brings up a great trivia question. What was the last federal law actually authored by the congressmen that sponsored it?
What was the last federal law that was not reworded in the administrative process?
What is missing this year is those press releases about the record crop for 2014. ------ Our economy is so dominated by federal spending because it is so small. Not small in gross spending, but small in number of active participants.
There are so few major news organizations left, Look at a presidential press confirence and actually see how many chairs they need.
It shows how few are needed to get a message out.

Re: market manipulation ???
Hobby,
At least the timing of your headline is manipulated. The contamination argument can be made any time and is hard to argue with.
No other issue is so utterly false from every angle as is the GMO issue. When that is thrown into the mix as a contaminant, the claims of that article are hard to disprove. But there is no doubt it is a manipulation of the truth.
We lead the rest of the world in genetic science as much as Silicon Valley leads the world on computer technology. How else do we expect our competition to react. Why do we need to lie about being able to guarantee it's absence?
Why do intelligent people need to question the science. We have been proving it's safety for -------- How many years??????
But send an article to this writer and say you have a neighbor who died from the GMO virus ------ He won't hesitate to print it.
Our moral compass is spinning in circles.

Who is this Jacob Bunge?
I tried to google him and find a biography without success.
He does appear to have an agenda, and who is putting the butter on his bread would be a good clue as to what the intent is.

yes, Sw, that is all I found, too. Basically nothing about him.
