maybe there is still hope
For a large RA insurance payment yet.
Oh joy ... a way to keep the bills paid outside of selling something.
I'm starting to get dizzy on this merry-go-round.
Nice drizzle out on the new wheat out in nw Kansas 1/3 of an inch and counting. It's up in nice, pretty little ribbons, 3 to 4 ft of subsoil moisture under it. Life is good.

Re: maybe there is still hope
Not yet.
Not one kernel or bean harvested yet.
Corn is wet and triple flood damaged and the beans are still several days away yet AND or flooded and gone.
Not planning on messing with corn till Nov
It is a mess with ears with mold, sprouts, and silt in them, some were just past roasting ear stage when the high water killed it. Some is just fine all in the same row. Yep I'm rich in diversity out there. I'm giving it as much time as I can to stabilize and grow aflotoxin, besides couldn't get a combine through the muddy fields anyway.

Makers mark and a Texas sized T-Bone, with only mushrooms. Yum Yum. And cash in my pocket to boot from my hedges to boot. Hopefully I can take a picture of Real huge peaks of corn this fall.

Re: maybe there is still hope
A few positives, just because that is the way I like to look at life.
Corn and beans both closed higher for the week....I think wheat did too...I just don't keep track of wheat.
The 6-10 day and 8-14 day is warmer and drier for Iowa and west.
Corn moistures are dropping very nicely....will help with harvest movement AND not transfering income to the LP guy.
Guys here are already running beans again today. Really spoiled as we have missed the big rains, ground is in great shape for harvest. (I realize this one is a local thing)
Some laugh at all the money spent on equipment, but man, sure makes harvest fun. And, it allows more time with grandkids in the cabs...pretty special times (yes, seat belts on kids is mandatory)
After reading Hobbyfarmer's flood mess, I am really, really grateful I don't have to combine those dirty crops.
I may not make much money farming this year, but I still love the life and am grateful I don't have to have to hit the homerun(or even base hit) to be around another year.

I would pay for that steak dinner if a picture is posted of him eating it, face in full view. I don't even care if he is laughing at all us dumb farmers.
