milo in the news

I been reviewing the SF news this weekend on the Grain Sorghum boats headed to China......

I have seen this information presented in many different formats.... sliced and diced to support the writers position.

The article is SF gave me information and is the only source that attempted to show who was caught in the pinch.

It appears that importers in China owned the shipments and discounted the loads to other countries to avoid paying the import costs.

One report I listened too actually said the milo I still have in storage is worthless as of that day....... Thank you SF for restraining yourselves from saying something that foolish.......

It is interesting how much easier it is to say things false in front of a camera compared to publishing it in words......     To say something really false in print you have to quote someone on camera.

Anyway thanks SF....... informative article......... I saw it reported (with film) that there was a fleet of ships involved..... after your article I doubt that claim.....

Re: milo in the news

The elevators around here are singing Milo
Worth nothing (even tho a couple of still
In area use it)

Trying to push everything to beans

As usual they are pushing the $65 to $70
Bean seed you can spray dicamba on and
Treated with insecticide, fungicide, trace minerals
Bacteria...wonder if the seed will be as big as
Marbles ???

But what coating do you use for drought ??

Re: milo in the news

I was shock at the number of bean acres in central Ks last fall.... The crop did not look that good and many were probably double crop acres, but there were a lot of 25-30 bushel acres .....

I wanted to go back and see if all those acres went back to wheat but as dry as it has bee those acres of wheat can't look good.

When I read about those freeze damaged wheat fields I was shocked by the locations.....

We can usually find freeze damage out west at higher elevations where the temps are extreme..... but to have obvious damage on a high % of plants only 9 days after the freeze  and have it back in the Salina to Wichita heart of the best yields... that's bad'

Many times I have seen the wheat tour just skip western counties as "unimportant" even if they have freeze....  It will be hard to ignore that area and impossible to have a state average anywhere close to projections.

Second note   Kansas Corn is projected as 15% planted  ......   FAKE news.... few have even started  its pretty cold.

Re: milo in the news

We had 7 to 8 degrees in some areas around
Here but most official stuff 15 to 17 degrees
Under 24 degrees for 10 hours.

Manhattan didn't expect much due to "warm
Soil temps" in the 30's and 40's.

We are behind due to lack of rainfall.

They said nck would have little damage,

But temps in low teens to single digits,

And Scandia soil temp was down to 20 degrees.

Re: milo in the news

Hear anything about SE KS ??
That is where they thought was the biggest
Chance for damage, since it was so far along.

If Salina was toasted, boys and girls there
Is trouble in river city with a capital T.

But do we dare go long. Past week or so
Wheat prices flat....up down up down

Acts like a day trading mess. Have to
Admit have not looked at deferred months.

But so what if wheat goes to $10 a bu...
If you don't have any ??

Re: milo in the news

Drove by the flour mill in New Prague, MN yesterday.

They had 8 trucks waiting in the staging area to unload.

If the mills start having trouble sourcing wheat is when you will hear some howling.

When CHS, ConAgra and Cargill got together to form Ardent Milling, New Prague was one of the mills ConAgra had to sell.
