Re: new marketng approach?

I had my fun on a Triumph Bonneville 650 back in the day. I sold it to an airman when I realized I was having enough fun that it was strictly probability as to when I was going to die because of it. Hope he survived it.  Then I got married and went to VW vans for awhile and then a diesel Rabbit before I realized I'd pushed my luck all over the nation and we had kids. Went to Dodge and Ford 6 cyl PU. Eventually made my way to Cummins Ram and Volt (still have the old Intrepid for back up).

Been a long trip now that I think about it. Now I spend all my time gaming the system to get high mileage. Just put a Chinese 'Head Up' display in the truck 😉

If I was going to go high performance car it sure as hell wouldn't be a Cadillac. Might be a Porsche Boxter. Yeah, like I'm going to get permission to do that like everyone else would !!! Very competent mid-engine, very reliable and reasonable cost used. Every road in my area is built for this car - and again I'd be facing the choice of having fun and dying or just being another boomer with a sports car.

Re: I'm doing my part .....

The bad part of "trendy" is the trends never last very long.

Seems kind of like they are spending 60K to build a 50K auto, and another 40K to build a reputation.--- or fix one.

Isn't it just easier to build a 30K auto that is reliable and dependable.  That burns clean and uses a fuel that is available world wide.

Cause world wide it is still a financially competitive business.

What will low oil prices for a couple of years do to the alternate energy movement?  It needed taxpayer infusions when oil was over $100 a barrell.

Keep in mind I am watching an alternative energy plant that burns more energy creating energy than the energy it creates.

Which reminds me why trends don't last.

High on gluten.......

Re: I'm doing my part .....

IMO it's not a trend. It's here to stay. Gas and electricity is availble world wide so don't have any idea what you are getting at on that score. And your figures are WAY off.

Dependable it is. Best car I've ever owned. The car was already engineered and waiting to be manufactured by 2008. It was waiting for the battery technology to catch up. No federal infusion for that project unless you count saving the company when it got caught during the crash still depending on SUVs. As to battery technology I can't say but it wasn't more innefficient than the moon shot on that score. Or the ISS?

Economy of production is often led by initial losses. But if you're thinking oil is going to be cheap for the life of the car you're presently driving you may be wrong. If efficiency matters you'll see the electricity as automotive power a permanent and growing trend. Heavy trucks will likely be micro turbine electric in the future, much like locomotives.

Yes, fusion requires more energy than it generates also. That's the nature of experimental. It's future development and application that matters.
