% of corn planted?

Just how much corn is planted in your neck of the woods?    Here in my neighborhood in NW Ohio, I would put the percentage at less than 5% overall.   With the rain yesterday, and rain again forcasted for Sunday, it appears we will be well into May before much gets done around here.

My wife said that the TV report said that 25% of MN corn was planted, compared to normal of about 11%.

Guess I am "normal" right now. Many area farmers are completely planted and some have not yet planted anything.

If you don't get going early up here in the north country, it's hard to find the time to plant it twice.

I would say 20%ish.  In the last 10 days we have had 3.5" rain another .6 last night and 20-70% chances everyday through next Monday.  Have had a couple of afternoons that you could go on some light ground but thats it.

First half of ours went in the ground on the 17th and 18th.

Then it rained so we finished the rest on the 22nd and 23rd.

All but 1 of the neighbors is done and they would be except they're

injecting manure from the large dairy west of us.

From what I hear at least 2/3 of the corn in our area of SCMN is planted.

I would say 80% to 90% of the corn around here is planted, those not done with corn are only spreading their risk given this cold front coming through with predicted temps in the 30`s.  Beans are even going in the cold, if you see a planter rolling today, they are probably planting beans. One guy planted a couple hundred acres of bean April 18, I know they`re pushing bean planting dates...but why 4/18?????  What can you possibly gain?  You`ll either be lucky and they won`t freeze off or you won`t.

Here in CIA around 80%.  Lots of lights in the fields last night with rain forecast.  Some corn is even up.  Son's sweetcorn looking great, maybe by July 4th!  We are having below normal rain for the month, ideal for getting the crop in.
