"Non-Event" +4.5 days
Little update on our non-event last Saturday am:
As mentioned the impact is variable, from slight damage
Where the top pods probably will stay flat:
While the bottom pods try to fill:
The variability is pretty obvious in spots:
And some replanted areas are just plain ugly:
The pods are there but......
Anyway - I suppose it doesn't really matter since this is in the 3rd row of counties north of the MN/IA state line.

Re: "Non-Event" +4.5 days
thanks for the photos, but not happy about the discomfort this causes you, despite what someone claimed on here.
2 previous postings come mind.
- no frost here in MN, Jen - the temp's only 35.
- and that i was giddy happy about all the producers getting frosted b/c of how much i'm lining my pockets with cash...no, i'm a science/biology man-weather guru - saw the pattern Th/Fri and was up till Sat 3am scanning midwest surface temps.
don't have to be a biologist to see what is alive or not from your photos.

Re: "Non-Event" +4.5 days
cat, I'm probably 80 miles south of you. My beans that didn't freeze sure look odd? Not like any maturity I've seen. And.. my corn that didn't freeze suddenly lost the green color on the tops of entire fields. that anthracnoise must really work fast as it happened in about 36 hours. Whew, sure glad that all this area just missed this minor event.

Re: "Non-Event" +4.5 days
I truely am sorry for your misfortune with the frost. But, you need to realize the entire corn belt is much bigger then your farm. Even the entire state of Mn is larger then your farm. The impact of what happened (excluding what amateur meteorologist say) is minimal. I also shows pics of soyplants in Mn that had no damage and they mean just as much to the trade. I guess only posts about poor crops, damaged crops, pity party about prices are allowed here.

Re: "Non-Event" +4.5 days
Nearly the entire state of MN has frost damage, not just his backyard. Not to mention some in Iowa, SD, ND, NE, and Wisc. Thats a pretty big backyard.
