Re: rain
new forecasts out this morning........still hot.......high of 104 today, then thunderstorms......
dtn shows .05 today, .06 sunday and .05 for monday
nws show a possibility of .5 total over the 3 days
yes, a moderation trend in temps, in the middle 90's thru all next week.....but factor in no moisture.
there should be some damn nice church's in iowa, ill, and ind...........with the rain you have and green crops
if I think of it, i'll take some pictures of what i'm seeing.......and why my stomach is in a knot.

Re: rain
We are just like usda ......................... we need a record crop every year........... to maintain our ever escalating expenses.
But this is a real stressful year....... even the irrigated crops are scalded in the heat.... similar to 2011.....

Re: rain
But......unlike the USDA, farmers may not have a job next year. When a farmer makes a mistake, only he pays for it. When the USDA makes a mistake, we all pay for it. USDA just continues to change their numbers until they get close to what they originally predicted. They make the rules. They are never wrong. When you make the rules, you will never lose.

Re: rain
When you are dry and you get a half inch of rain it's like putting a teaspoon of water in a tub and trying to take a bath just think what 30,000 thousand corn plants are trying to do.

Re: rain
5:30 am our best shot came through with a vengeance. 70-90 mph winds which went on for 1/2 hour. Radar solid red and yellow right over the top of us from 5:30-7:00. 1/2 Inch total. Late planted replant corn in another county was about 5' tall and laying flat root lodged. been too hot for brace root development. Lot of Greensnap. I'm praying for major hail.

Re: rain
Got lucky here. Winds for while, but not bad enough to hurt much here, some tree limbs down. Power out for a few hours. But temps much cooler overnight, with 2 inches rain at home, some areas nearby (within 2 miles) said they had close to 4 inches.

Re: rain
It is a mixed up year...... wind in Iowa.............. drought in North.......... And heat enough to overcome rain......
Wonder how many of the corn acres are dry land and turning brown dry...... They aren't going to count through most of the high plains.
