Re: roar of the cheering
I agree. It seems like many are rooting against the American farmer........Heck, there are farmers rooting against the American farmer as well. This is where I insert a picture of me......banging my head against the wall.

Re: roar of the cheering
What's even more confusing to me is a lot of that roaring is being done by people and businesses who make their living farming the farmer.
Interesting times indeed.

Re: roar of the cheering
I don't take a newspaper but do check ag news sources online and I guess I hadn't noticed people piling on the farmers about prices.
I have noticed an increase in environmentalists piling on the farmer.

Re: roar of the cheering
Election day in 4 states
There are initiatives in many states( I read 18 states, but haven't verified it) to get labeling on all foods that are made from gmo crops.
Food fear is the current craze for sure. We don't care anymore what we are afraid of, we are just be worried we are not afraid enough.
Checking out my breakfast this morning ----
in front of me a label ----- "Naturally Fat Free-A Fat Free Food" prompted me to read the label on back --- Apples, Fructose CS, Corn Syrup(CS), Sugar, water.................There goes my apple sauce. I have lost my cinnamon carrier.
So I turn to my Grape nuts to save me ----- without the apple sauce-------- But wait, Gotta read the label ----- all good so far, at the bottom after two bites-------- whole grain wheat flour, malted barley flour, salt, dried yeast, I know salt will kill me but doing the salt conversion on the 4th bite I realize ------- I have fallen over the Gluten cliff.
The bacon label has 7 grams of fat ----- Who could have guessed. 🙂
The egg carton has no label,,,,,,,, God Bless you EGG People----- I have something to eat in ignorance.
NOOOOOOO Wait....... in a little square line is a label -----Safe Handling Instructions: TO PREVENT ILLNESS FROM BACTERIA; KEEP REFRIGERATED, COOK EGGS UNTIL YOLKS ARE FIRM, AND COOK FOODS THOROUGHLY.
How did we go from being one of the most educated countries in the world to a population that has to be told how to kill bacteria???
There is no way that the farmer does not get trampled in the hysteria.

Re: roar of the cheering
Not all farming is going poorly. My dairy farm friend, has a lot of cows. His income is at $1.30 per second, 24/7. Yes, 100 grand, plus a day. Now the cull cows make a little extra spending money. I need to talk about the price of corn silage to him. My corn is still just starting to tassle, and is quite uneven from the cold and wet Spring
So right about food, SW, I will never forget what my Grandma said. She had a slow form of cancer. Her first doctor gave her a lot of pills and what food to not eat. He died. Her second younger doctor gave her less pills, but cut all organ meats. He died. Then her next doctor just out of med school came to treat her in hospital. She told him if he died before her, she would just go home and drink mixed drinks until God called her home. He took away all her pills, but for pain and told her to eat anything she wanted. Then he sent her home. She lived another 6 months.

Re: roar of the cheering
The original couple of threads here have got to be some of the most puzzling I have ever seen from a business person that produces commodities. Timer has his annual meeting on Aug 24 and 25th. Pay your 250 bucks for his annual fee, get in the car and drive to it like many do, sit and absorb, and you will see the opportunities that abound. See how a marketing road map is drawn and how you can benefit no matter which way prices go. Its out there so take advantage of it ....... or just continue to do what you are doing. Its your choice.
