Re: soybean market ???
Hobby, You bring up the pipeline supply 'til SA harvest. If our supply is running low by march, how we gonna feed all the pigs and chickens here by sept.?

Re: soybean market ???
From what I gather from all the chatter is that our supply will last longer than some of us "not in the know" think plus the #'s coming out in ALL the official guesses is for a record crop in SA that will supply everyone... Including our shortfall if any.
Remember the picture and article of the ship in port in Florida unloading corn just last week? Same plan for beans next summer.
I would like to know the results of that Bunge survey on their web site. Nothing less than $16 on the questons of "what price will you sell beans for". Around here we are in the low $14's.
Are they expecting a 15% rise in prices? 15% doesn't sound like much till you realize it is $2/bu.
Really foggy here this morning outside...not much better in my Harbor Freight crystal ball.

Re: soybean market ???
Same boat here with soybeans....I sold about a third of the harvest for just shy of $17 and am in no hurry to sell the rest of a short crop for less, but will look at $15 at some point. My soybeans were not very good, compared to corn, and I wonder if the numbers actually are there nation wide.

Re: soybean market ???
I will have to agree with Hobby on the importing of beans to this country , but will make a really big GUESS that it will be closer to March .
One of 2 things must be going on here ( IN ) demand is really good OR they are trying to move beans before they shut down Old muddy . Heard they are +.50 basis down at the Queen City . As of now it looks more like they are letting the basis make up for prices to get the beans in ,much like last summer here and record high basis for corn , or then again we just may be short beans here . lol
Like Hobby -- my Habor freight crystal ball is all fog'd up this morning , well not really foggy , more like WET ! nice little rain here this morning !
BTW going for a record tomorrow ! 70 ! wish us luck ! lol

Re: soybean market ???
Southern MN. Some areas reported record bean yields while other areas did not get a timely rain during August, like us, and had terrible yields. Compounded by shatter and excessive dryness during harvest, too. Maybe I need to hose the beans down good before taking them in.

Re: soybean market ???
time and time again, if exports are running high it means importers were worried about supplies and acted.
My lonesone view is, as a holder of long beans, one needs to help supply demand and gradually sell into high demand.
Shrewd speculators sell what farms are unwilling to and oft do well.

Re: Of course, you also have to take into account that since...
Brazil importing ,,, unlikely cept ofor logistical arbitrage, come on.
if Brazil is importing sell some , help supply this odd out demand and
profit.
Are you going to go long along side them>
Or add to economic function,, sell some.
Functioners get paid, wild spes don't,,, i think.

Re: soybean market ???
You are most likely correct right now. But it won't be long and we will be back in a weather market. I got time to hold.
