switching acres to beans
Hearing more farmers rethinking planting mix with beans climbing and corn going down. Anybody else hearing this?

Re: switching acres to beans
This is why I would advise going into the report long new crop corn short new crop beans. The spread is too wide to not at least think about planting more beans. Ever since the ethanol mandates have come into play, it seems the gov't wants to make darn sure we plant enough corn acres every year. I'd venture to guess they'll come out with a friendly corn acreage number in the report.

Re: switching acres to beans
My seed dealer told me that he has customers cancel their corn on corn seed orders to order more beans instead. This is in North Iowa.

Re: switching acres to beans
We are planting more beans than normal this year. Cheaper to put out. Quicker to harvest with a big header. Contracted some fall delivery Monday for $13.02. I could sell fall corn now for $5.20 beans will make above profit.
