Re: MT

My vote also.  But if there going to dish it out I am taking it with no guilt.  We live in socialism.  Not capitalism.  I wish we could have free markets.  And austrian economics.

I also think that we farmers should be doing a lot more for the poor and with a humble attitude.  None of us had any say in where we were born.

Re: the video........

Silverwheaton,

C'mon, think before you talk or blurb out studity. We live in the best country for freedom whether it is speech or business.  We have the best economy in the WORLD.

I went on a trip to Cuba and just a quick trip to the grocery store there tells you what socialism is all about.  There was a line from here to eternity.  Do you want to hear the F'd up thing......just because we were tourist they let us right in.  In a communistic world you do not have a say so.  In that world you just take it, however they (Govt) want to give it to you.  You calling that the US?  No way.  Hows that crop insurance.

Re: the video........

"best country"?   I would say it like this,we are the best house in a bad neighborhood. Understand that?  Nothing to boast about.  I am a realist, not an ostrich with its head in the sand.    I did not say we are under communism.

Best economy in the world?  Depends on how you define it.   Their are countries with much better GDP growth.

The trend is towards conditions that Cuba has.  Not away from what Cuba has.

You really think we have capitalistic economy?

Re: the video........

That be as it may, I doubt that if our great republic is in decline it is on account of the bad character of all the poor folks.

By their nature, human beings are inclined to want to suck up and kick down and thus it is easy for the people who are really fleecing America to convince the goobers that it is their poor neighbor's fault.

Re: MT

We do not live in socialism. The vast majority of transactions in this nation is capitalist activity from wall street to main street. Many trillions of dollars in capitalistic transactions year after year.

Socialism did not cause this quantry. It was the excesses of capitalists exploiting the financial world for excessive profits while dumping the risk of losses on unsuspecting investors.

Social programs are not the cause of our financial distress. People pay fica taxes specifically to fund SS medicare, medicaid and unemployment insurance. Folks are paying for those benefitsbefore and after the fact. It's the general fund that has been borrowing to pay for excesses of our government. Military corporate subsidies and debt service on obligations caused by the nonsocial facets of the government.

The  best description I have heard of Romneys stance is that he is Contemptious, callous and conndesending . Criticizing people that pay few income taxes because they lack income. Compared to Romney who pays a low income tax rate because he wants to. Using every tactic available to avoid taxation while chastizing folks that pay payroll taxes at a higher rate on modest income than Romneys pays on a multimillion dollar income.

AS farmers we are blessed to have  subsidized assistance from our government along with a very friendly tax code to deal with special tax incentives. So we have very little to complain about and compared to the welfare queens we have hit the jackpot. Have you looked at EWG and seen how much you have received in subsidies since 2005?  It would take a helluva lot of food stamps to total those numbers.

Socialism is merely talking points to justify lowering taxes for the nonjob creators and you want to cut the federal safety net to make that possible. Romney and people like  him choose to denigrate those that have earned and paid for the safety net benefits that they are getting.

Re: MT

I wish I could verify some of that.  I keep having difficulty finding the ewg data on food stamps and the recipients list.  Can you post the link?
