vhi maps took a major dump
looking at the maps the entire western belt took a turn for the worst. Most of illinois is sucking right now, except for the northern part of illinois around chicago. The best is indiana and ohio, and they are just average. For the maps to read exceptional over indiana and ohio they should be blue-like iowa and minnesota last year. The crop growing areas of the Dakota are in the same boalt as Minnesota and Nebraska is falling off a cliff. We should be into 11 bill if these maps are correct.http://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/smcd/emb/vci/VH/vh_browse.php

Re: vhi maps took a major dump
I believe Ohio's corn showed a decrease over last week's ratings already. The soybeans in Ohio are going downhill fast also with too much rain. If Ohio is the garden spot, the boys in Chicago will soon be buying.

What - me worry?!?! If anybody needs rain this year all you have to do is rent a sign that says "Albert Lea - Pop. 18016" on it.
No matter which direction the storms come from that sign will get rained on!!

I hear you....I went to pick up some seed pallets at Albert Lea this spring and it rained almost all the while I was there. Not showers...heavy pouring rain. No wonder you have those lakes.

Re: vhi maps took a major dump
Compare the VHI of week 27 of 2013, to week 24 of of 2011. They look identical. Looks to me like we are just 3 weeks behind.

Re: vhi maps took a major dump
if it yields like 2011 the national yield would be 10-13 percent below trend, or 144 to 148 national yield. In reality the national yield would be below this since we have more pp and late planting this year. spring was far worse this year.
