wheat harvest is upon us

Shaggy, the dry land wheat  -------- 1/3 was sprayed two months ago when the adjustor said "less than 3 bushel per acre..  of the 8 fields 6 were less than one bushel....

the 2/3 left to be propped up by weeds resides in sandier soils... so far the yields have run as such....... 23, 26, 26, 28,35, 21

suprising and disappointing all at once.....

Test weights around 60

I won't post any green corrections............ Esspecially now that the turf is being patroled by the new "Jeff Dunham" character "Issie the conqurererer and divider".........

Been thinking about a entry to retouch the idea that "producers are not marketers"  but Issie might just pass judgement on it before I can get it entered,,,,,,,,,,, seems like he is somewhat on the same wave length.....

Sw, the thing replaceing the market manager is a computer.......that's why

rather interesting, photo of a "live" market on this web, why don't they show a picture of the "new" trading floor, all computer

screens flashing, nobody there, but a cricket making noise.

They are going in NCK......some wheat has really come back to life compaired to a few months ago, some isn't much

better, mixed bag.

Trying to get going, having truck and combine problems....would have been ready, but we have a "development", that

has been keeping us on the road to ku med.  maybe do surgery in a month or so, then out for a month or two.

Have called around for a custom cutter, just for insurance.  If things don't start to turn around, maybe have them take

care of it....

anyone hear cutting rates this year ?  been quoted 23-23-23.......i don't think we need to worry about the last 23

12.5" of rain in last week on SRW...last night 2.9 in 40 minutes...with hail.....alot of wheat out of the head...sprouting has begun....no way to cut it because of mud.....all in all...I'd say it is a total loss.

Well C- Oh - if your fields are all flat and square - and you THROW in free sprinkles - then I could do it for like 22.75

BF sorry to hear about the wheat your direction.  I don't know  what your numbers are, but down here, the insurance

price is better than the market price.  i was thinking maybe swath and bale, but if down and all that moisture,

and the grain going sour, egads, about the only thing would be to burn it and start all over again ?

We'll put you on our prayer list.....got a feeling that thing is going to get longer and longer, aliken to santa's

list ?

Had one heck of a productive week last week.  Was able to get all wheat harvested before it rained, and also got all the harvesting equipment cleaned up and stowed away before it got rained on as well.  Got the oats all hayed and about 50% stacked without any rain on it either.  And finally 2 unexpected baby bull calves. Evidently when I bought some pairs last fall a couple of them were bred back before I brought them home.  Now I must report back to the off the farm job, I'm tired and need some rest.  

BTW, had very above average harvest yields, and test weights flirting with 65#. Looks like I'm blessed to do it another year, took advantage of the nice price rally the past few days and sold enough to cover all input expenses for the 2016 wheat cropping year with a few bushels left to sell.  Well quite a few left to sell, well over half.

Not many "vacations" are that timely....... congrats

We are well into the two varieties that were hit by leaf rust.  Irrig. yields went from 77 to 25 with a change of variety...
