Re: would you guys quit your whining
I mean the whole world knows that this crop is huge
I mean the traders think it's massive. Best ever
Course there are a core group of individuals that know that a spring like we had followed by a variable summer isn't a recipe for super duper

Re: would you guys quit your whining
That is right. You got $400 for the first 100 bushel and you will get $350 for the second 100 bushel. So that is $750 per acre for your corn crop. What more do you need? I can remember times I barely got $100 gross per acre and I still turned out ok.
And we haven't even included that wonderful bean crop. You gotta be positiveTiger!

Re: would you guys quit your whining
Sometimes you are so unbelievably dense. I am old enough to remember corn at $1/bu and I have sold corn for $1.80/ bu and of course the yields were in the 100 bu range. Don't you realize the issue here? It is not the gross per acre it is the net. Our dollar might be high by world standards, but our dollar has devalued in my lifetime an unbelievable amount and it is on a fast downhill slide now. The printing presses are not our friends!

Re: would you guys quit your whining
I`ve heard these seed companies haven`t lower their prices at all...Pioneer even had a number that went up in price, are they out of their freaking minds??? If we take a 40% cut in what we sell, they should at least eat a 10% cut. But I`ll bet they`ve expanded and research to stay "competitive" that if they cut even $5 per unit they`d lose a ton of money. They better get their act together goll dang it, or it`s off to the Albert Lea Seedhouse for me, I`ll buy my own cap and jacket and paring knife, thank you very much!

Re: would you guys quit your whining
I was just at the Wis Tech days, pricing corn seed. When I asked the price on my type of seed, the salepeople almost always asked: What price is everyone else at?
So appears the price will be changing, I think I will may move companies this year to lower my cost.

Re: would you guys quit your whining
DSM (District Seed Managers) seem to have a pretty wide range of prices if in a competitive matching situation. Nothing wrong with getting several quotes, and letting the people you want to do business with try to match the best deals.
Competition is what made America great.
