Re: To my first point- bond market chaos

There have been some large cattle losses in feedlots in our area. 600 head of fat cattle in one feedlot alone. A $900,000 loss over a two day period. Other feedlots with losses but not that staggering. I think there is a huge meat shortage coming. Animals just couldn't take the heat and humidity. Feed intake went down to as they were to hot to eat.

Look at the chart- maturity spreads flying all over the place in a random fashion

Re: To my first point- bond market chaos

OK. It's a market. I don't feel very concerned. These are big boys playing little boys games  regarding political brinkmanship and the like. We've gone through much worse and looked into the depths of economic hell and skirted by. Not withstanding that some are positive that going to economic hell would be a positive a positive thing and are essentially blaming those who would work to keep us out of it.

Some will be right some will be wrong and some will play both sides of the street. But not all actions and reactions are sign of a duck's nest.

Regulation and oversight is WAY behind the game anymore. And that's the way many of the players want it. They will get the results. We may pay for it. The cards are on the table and the big boys are playing them. We get to watch them bet our well being. Now THAT's a free market for you.

Do you have a sister named Susan ? Hardnox posts some legitimate thoughts on the overall economy and its potential effect on the markets and you post something only a politician could love?! I know, we don't have enough wheat......

Re: To my first point- bond market chaos

My question for Hx was 'what is the 'market damage' he speaks of?'.  That was the point of the post I believe. I guess I was getting frustrated regarding the nauture of the 'market damage'. Why should I care? How does this affect ag?

Secondly, markets are inherently messy. Suggesting a conclusion but not spelling it out is a bit like reading tea leaves at this point.

Re: yech

If you stand back, CNBC or other media act as if this or that matters, but in fact they don’t. Mkts are largely sentiment, finding who wants to own or disown this or that .TV etc is a joke, useless.

“many more months of having markets driven by political posturing and headlines.””  Which headline means what ?

“New EU Greek debt plan “ most GC bugs have no sense of scale. Greece is a ¼ drop,  meaningless. Less than 2% of the US ECONOMY.

Largely things don't change, corporate capital prodiuces and advances, science advances, US networkths, incomes, output rise and rise, faster than the world on avg.

Re: yech

Despite the ability to squeeze shorts on anything that can be remotely regarded as "better than expected" economic data, employment, housing and growth factors are not showing good trends. The only positive thing to report is that some US multinationals are making money like crazy. """

shorts are wrong accept it, look at your posts a yr ago NEGATIVE US stk mky.

Re: yech

Now Arty...you certainly don't want us to pull up your posts about the wheat market in early 2010 do you?

For someone who is always bearish, all the time, with the results that brings with it, ie being bearish $4.00 corn in mid 2010, you might want to go easy on bringing up the past. 🙂
