ATU for Deere

I'm looking at purchasing auto steer for my 4960 and 9200.  Deere's universal unit, coupled with the newest monitor is the preferred route to go, with SF2 signal.  I do not need RTK, yet.  My question for guys that have used this system is what are the pro's and cons of this system and is it better or worse than Trimble or another brand?  Also, is it even worth the money in looking for a used system and can the savings be eaten up by issues?

Re: ATU for Deere

We use the universal wheel in our 9300 & 8100. No complaints other than to run over about 8 mph you have to change some sensitivity settings, which takes a couple seconds. Deere is more expensive than Trimble, but the dealership is only a couple miles away and the Trimble dealer is about 30.

Sorry no experience with used stuff but have hard good stories about it. Only thingthat everyone is consistent on is the recommendation to buy new "globes" due to the uncertainty of the condition of the used ones i.e. did somebody try and clear a branch or shed with it......

Good Luck, we love our autosteer to death
