Re: Experts Layout The Future of Farming

Hi, I will be using precision agriculture in the Philippines to help improve the lives of our poor farmers.  I am optimistic that this technology would help us improve crop yields due to variable soil fertility (not to mention obsolete farm management practices) and avert huge losses in crop production  I may need help from experts like you to assist me in implementing this project.  I have just bought a Phantom 3 Pro drone to asess the field and is scouting to buy a not so expensive NDVI camera.  You may have contacts in your country that could hep me find a best buy NDVI camera.  A refurbished unit will do to save on cost.

Re: Experts Layout The Future of Farming

None of us on this site are experts in use of drones to assess crop yields.  The most likely places to find such information are in  the Extension sections of our Land Grant universities, such as Kansas State University, North Dakota State University, Iowa State University, Purdue University, Ohio State University, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech University and so forth.

It is a rapidly changing field.

I would not know where to start looking for a used NDVI camera.  I'd probably start with the vendors to see what they had to offer.  You can look on eBay and Craigslist to get an idea of availability and cost, but I would be very cautious about buying from them.  You may be able to find a reputable vendor on those sites, in which case you can decide yourself if you wish to take the risk of buying that way.

I hear that Red Edge is another color spectrum that shows promise in analyzing or projecting yields.  That is even more expensive than NDVI.

Good luck in your endeavor and we'd be glad to hear of your results.
