FAA Vs. Pirker on UAS Resolved
In 2011, Raphael Pirker was fined $10,000 by the FAA for violating a number of rules. The case has been settled. Several of the chargers were dropped. Pirker did not admit guilt. The fine was $1,100. From a legal point of view, the FAA published some more UAS regulations in 2012 so this case may or may not have much bearing on current enforcement actions.
As far as the FAA is concerned, some charges did stick. This guy may have a difficult time getting a pilot's certificate with a 91.13 violation on his record. The FAA record shows he does not have a certificate at this time.
