Monitors & other in cab electronics Power Source Question

Manufacters of ag electronics seem to want everything wired straight to the battery these days.  Its becoming a pain to run all these wires directly to the battery all the time.  The JD power strip thats built into the right side of the cab seems to be there for a reason, why isn't this good enough?  Our particular tractor happens to be a 8270R, but JD has had these power strips for years. I know a year or two ago someone on this site had a link to a couple devices you could use in the cab.  I believe it went directly to your battery and then had several outlets for hooking up all your electonics in the cab.  Anyone familiar with this?  And how is this better than the power strip that comes with the tractor from the factory?
