Baby's first photo shoot

Kids invited me along for GS's first portrait sitting this morning.  His mom met us there, so with the four of us and the studio staff, there were six of us cooing and whistling at the poor little guy.  All he wanted to do was sleep...

The photographer had only him today, so no concerns over cold season and his tiny immune system.  They had cranked up the heat in the studio before we arrived, so he would be comfortable, even in his "birthday suit."

I was so glad they decided to go the professional photographer route.  They took all the time they needed, and didn't rush when the baby wanted a little nursing break.  He settled right back down, and they got even better shots the second session.

What really tickled me was that they are sending my daughter a link, probably this afternoon, with all the proofs online, so she can pick what she wants.  She can share the link, so we can order, too.  They will even do their Christmas cards in-house for her.  Can't wait to see them.

I was terrible at not being able to get portraits made often enough...did okay with first child, but it got harder and harder as I had more.  Have a few really good ones, but sure do wish i had more.  Am hoping to keep a good habit of studio shots as he grows up.

Do you have really good pictures of your kids, or do you kick yourself for missing out, too?

Re: Baby's first photo shoot

I  have seen some unbelievably beautiful baby pictures in studio windows...I can't wait to see what my grandsons will turn out to be like.   Right now all he does is sleep...I haven't even seen his eyes.    So differant than the Penneys ones I had taken of my kids.

Re: Baby's first photo shoot

When I got home from training tonight about seven, we grabbed a quick supper, then sat down to view the online proofs from this morning. There were tears running down my face, just looking at them. I have picked six or seven, and will let the kids pick their choices first, then settle on two for us... a smaller one for my office, and a larger one for the family room. Our daughter had a blanket stitched with " Daddy's Littlle Farm Hand" on it, and the bunch with him wrapped loosely in that turned out probably the best. The studio has a 20% off gift certificate special for Christmas season. I am planning on giving the kids a certificate sufficient to cover portrait sittings at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. Then, I will probably make this part of their Christmas gift each November/ early December. (Birthday portraits are usually sufficient after the first year.) That works with ordering their family photo cards, too. They can turn any of the.sittings into a family portrait anytime they want. I am sure I will buy my favorites as we go through. I so enjoyed the personal attention our little man received today. A friend told me today that if you get hooked into a big package at Walmart or any other store studio, you will end up paying as much in the long run as for really professional work. After seeing these proofs, I can say that they are worth the money. Parker will be staring a hole through you before you know it. Those eyes open up and melt your heart. They got several eyes- open shots of Winn today, and he is only 12 days old. We will have to share some shots via the Christmas card list....
