Christmas decorations
We have written about getting the tree decorated and other decorating down but I am wondering how long you leave your decorations out before putting them away. I suspect this is a regional thing?
I know people who put them away Christmas evening.
I am 'old fashioned' I guess but I may leave my outside lights on until 12/6. Usually I will take the tree down on New Years Day or the day after and gradually put everything away. I hate the bare look when every i put way. Some years if I have put out all of my snowmen, may leave them out into Jan.
What do you do?

Re: Christmas decorations
I will take things down sometime the end of next week. I had so much fun decorating, I am like you...it will look bare. I still don't think I have finished my tree. I take pictures of it and it looks bare. It is usually loaded down with ornaments and tinsel, but this year I tried to do something differant...

Re: Christmas decorations
So far, I have huing one wreath, and it is hard to see for all the building materials propped up on the front porch, out of the weather. I hope to get a small tabletop tree up by Saturday. I have wrapped zero gifts. Just too much mess and disruption to enjoy the traditions much right now.
I did post the photo of Winn's stocking yesterday, and I will hang it with the rest by Christmas Eve. I have a feeling I will take things down pretty quickly, too. If anything other than the wreath stays up for even a week this year, I would be surprised.
My habit when the kids were little was to take out the Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving, and we would decorate a lot that day, finish over the weekend. Everything stayed up until New Year's Eve. Can't take six weeks of it anymore.
I think this is because it comes out so far ahead in the stores. I find myself thinking that so much of the merchandise in them is cheap, imported junk, and what that has cost our country. Sorry for being political with that thought, but it has been on my mind for weeks now.
I hope that having a grandchild will make me more excited about Christmas in years to come. Right now, it is pretty much, BAH, Humbug! around here....

Re: Christmas decorations
I love the decorations, but I usually take mine down on New Years day.
