Cool days
We just spent four days at an Antique Tractor show nearby. The show has really grown in the past two years and the attendance was huge again. After weeks without rain it rained on Thursday and another shower on Friday evening bringing very cool weather and mud. Morning temps around 50 with wind. Last year the heat was the problem. It was cold in the camper but there were extra blankets. Seems like an early fall is on the way.
Sales were way down in our flea market booth and most others. With Labor Day being late this year I am thinking people did not have a pay check this week. We could always tell at the Farmers Market when it was pay day week-end.
Now with the rain there are hours of mowing to do and I want to get the sweet potatoes dug and the popcorn and sunflowers inside. I am not sure how to tell when the popcorn is dry enough? Field corn harvest began over a week ago here and is really in full swing now.

Re: Cool days
Don't know much about popcorn but a neighbor nearby planted & his is still in the field. The cooler days have been great haven't they? I got ambitous yesterday & started some cleaning. But I still need to weed & water my big flower bed. I'm sure if I don't it will be haunting me next spring!

Re: Cool days
Cool nights here, actually upper forties this morning. I usually get up for a bathroom stop, and turn back in for a fast snooze of an hour or so. This pup has me out walking her for a half -hour or so at five-ish. I think she would sleep longer, if I could....
I really needed a hoodie at that time of night...no sunlight showing over the horizon. She is enough of a hunting breed (ratter) that the scent of anything and everything sends her off on a tangent.
I can't say I really look forward to that early rising, but the stars were so bright and beautiful, maybe being out with her is what I need. Still eighty--ish these afternoons.
Lovely.

Re: Cool days
Heat is coming back but the past couple of days have been good. I enjoy the clear skies so I can see the stars.

Re: Cool days
Even though we are headed to the 80s during the day it cools down to the 60's at night. No AC, Pigs are eating, nice breeze. However that drying breeze is not good for our nongmo corn that has corn borers. Tom is spent almost a week changing the dryer/fan on the drying corn bin. It has been really slow. No exact fit, lots of refiguring. Yesterday, I got called out for putting in bolts. I think he finally understands just how much my knees have been bothering me. Almost didn't get into that bin. Who ever thought they needed that extra door support wasn't 60.
The little house is empty. I keep making progress on the basement. One problem is the basement in the big house is not a nice concrete floor. Things that stayed in the basement in the little house can not go in the basement here.

Re: Cool days
Our non GMO corn is going down fast. Had it tested the other day & the fella at the elevator asked what kind it was. He had heard that company has had a lot of fields with the same problem. Ronnie had the salesman come up & he brought a rep who gave an excuse we didn't agree with. Very likely we will be changing companies next year as we are not tied to this one. We have used others in the past that were cheaper and did just as well. I know circumstances can be different, but we are the only ones in our neighborhood using that company and the only ones with this problem.
