Duh, Why was I not thinking?
The past 3 weeks I've had a lot of pain in my legs, knees and ankles. I though it was from climbing the stairs and using step ladders. At times the pain would be a sharp stabbing pain. I was falling asleep at night with cold/ice packs on the back of my knee. Well, it finally hit me. I'd been wearing Skeetchers Go walk slip ons. I'd bought them about a month ago. The were fairly comfortable, slipped on easy when in the house, memory foam, I bought a pair of light teal and navy blue ones.
I ran around the house looking for my arch supports. It has taken a week of wearing the arch supports and I'm not perfect but today was the best my legs and knees have felt in weeks. After supper I went out and worked in my flowers. And I powerwashed for 2 hours today too. Lesson learned wear those arch supports in all shoes. They only cost like $5 for a pair. I was just about ready to go get x-rays thinking my knees were going again.
So glad a simple thing could make me feel so much better.
Plus, I found my Jr. High and High school scrapbook today. Scanned some pics to share with my HS friends by e-mail. Life is good.

Re: Duh, Why was I not thinking?
Have done similar here too. Run around, stood canning or freezing sweet corn, on my feet with NO shoes. Duh. Usually takes a little longer for me to get back in shape after finally getting those orthotics, which I need to update.
I tried on Sketchers and really was surprised for the brand name they were, I didn't see much support. Perhaps just the one I grabbed though.
I am looking for a serious walking shoe with support for pronation. would love to find ANY good shoes for dress, etc. that fit the bill. I'm getting to the point I don't care how much they cost if they truly fit my needs.

Re: Duh, Why was I not thinking?
It seems no matter what shoe I buy, after awhile I have to add the arch supports. I can not go barefoot. And just looking at flipflops make my feet ache.

Re: Duh, Why was I not thinking?
Due to the breaks to both ankles, but rspecially the left one, and I guess somenerve damage ( numb spots still there since 1991), my left foot drops a bit when I am tired. I almost always trip by a drag of the left foot, often on a nearly invisible bumo in the concrete under a carpeted floor....stores, the gym, you name it.
I think my alltime nest work shoes are Born " urban hikers". I rotate three pair of them most of the year.

Re: Duh, Why was I not thinking?
I always wear Clarks for dress shoes. Have never found anything better. I look at some gals/kids wearing those flat flip flops and just cringe in pain. No way could I do that. Feel like some old lady that should only wear huge ortho shoes but honestly, there isn't an inch of support in those things. What a rip off the manufacturers are.
Wondered why I was getting sore spots on my heels and inspected my walking shoes this a.m. and there are worn spots on both the insides of the heels in front of those tabs to pull your shoes on with. No wonder! Have to wear a good bandage on my heels right now until I find new ones. May try going to a good athletic shoe store to try some of the brands mentioned here. My son & DIL have found one they like (?) at an outdoor store. May look there if I can make time for the trip.

Re: Duh, Why was I not thinking?
I have been searching for a pair of brown sandles for I bet you 15 years. I found a pair when I was in college that I loved and wore the snot out of them to the point that I can't wear them and I still can't find a pair that I like. 😞 That being said, I buy a pair of arch supports for every pair of shoes and have found that if I wear something with a bit of a heel my legs and back do really well. I HATE flip flops or at least that thing between my toes for the most part and can not wear them for very long. I can't see how people can work and stand on their feet all day in shoes that have no padding or support. Boggles the mind I tell ya!

Re: Duh, Why was I not thinking?
I know what you mean. The beautician at the next chair last time I was there wore a pair of blingy flip flops complete with that toe thong that I also cannot stand. She is a large gal and I can see problems from every angle. And some of them wear heels!
That said, when I went to Chicago for dr. appt. I was remembering when I used to go with a group of gals (w/chaperone-high school) to dance convention in downtown Chicago. Danced all day, alternating from ballet, jazz and high heel tap shoes a la Rockettes. Then would shower and dress (pretty fancy) and walk for blocks in high heels to restaurant and back. I looked at that hotel & the trek we made and my eyes rolled back in my head! LOL No longer wear much of a heel and NEVER any of those 3" ones. Gave mine away years ago!
