Keep your fingers crossed, please!
She had the distinct pleasure of dealing with the last guy's dismissal without our presence for support on Friday. We were planning to be back a couple of hours before he was due to be terminated, but our truck broke down, and none of the tow companies wanted to bring us this far for AAA's fee, so after two hours in the sweltering sun, we went back to Virginia house.
She needed to have this experience, including losing $400 still left owing to her on the vehicle the guy totalled back in a snow and ice storm. We warned her not to do that deal, but she didn't listen. I think he would have been gone a good while ago, if not for that debt. He should have been
I am leaving it up to her to fill the position, and fix the house to whatever level. I will buy supplies, but have a valuable rental house to flip between tenants in Virginia next month, and (Turkey, this one's for you!) have sworn not to clean up behind a nasty person ever again.
I have decided that this is one of those life lessons I didn't need to shield her from. As we were waiting for the tow truck Friday, I told Mike that we weren't meant to be here. Do you ever get that feeling, that something gies wrong, to let things run a different course?
Anyway, please hold a good thoight that we find a good helper today, and that he kniws how to clean and hang some panelling.

I agree that the break down was for a reason although very stressful for you. When one is aware of life and understands that God intervenes in our lives we can see these things frequently.

Re: Keep your fingers crossed, please!
Finally got to the office to get bookwork knocked out, before Winn arrives for the interview time today. Not much to do, but had to void guy's check,. which was already written for this week.
I didn't know when I ran them last time, how bad he'd gotten on the farm. I do know that the pool he was supposed to scoop still looks like pea soup...Mike is finally giving it some attention now. Winn wants to swim in it SO badly....
Still feel zapped by the hot afternoon on the ditchbank Friday. Have that well repair bill and the truck repairs, and three $$$ hayfeeders plus some pasture spraying coming, too. Not a fun start to summer!
Now, repairs on trailer for whatever worker. Not looking forward to having to get the brick house ready, either, but the realtor says do it this summer, or no one will show for a year. Families that need four bedrooms and three baths move on summer vacation. So, there goes MY summer break between hay cuttings.
The truck breakdown prevented us from picking up the roofing sheathing lumber for the greenhouse, too. We have agreed to table that until we pick it up from the shop, which won't even have a tech to handle the diagnostics until tomorrow. There is a Lowe's right next door there, so that makes more sense than trying to overload a smaller pickup with short bed, or haul a trailer.
This all just reminds me of how I'd have to get irrigation equipment for my birthday (tomorrow) when we were first starting out. Not that bad off (yet), but it sure makes you feel poor...actually, I think I am getting those hay feeders this year!
Feel like I need to get outside and weed a while. Did several beds at Jenna's yesterday morning, and we finally finished mulching the new roses, which will surround my old, rusty tractor "yard ornament".
Need to paint one more rocker for the porch there, fix the seat on the twig bench we built last year...the wood we chose to bend didn't survive the winter, so I have to alter the design a bit. I found that out the hard way, and Mike had a good laugh.
I have told him we really have to get our heads together for the next couple of months: custom applicator, two different biosolids companies, feeder delivery guy, and now a new employee. Two houses to get up to snuff. We get thrown one more yard to mow with the rental, until it's taken, too.
Toss in dentist and doctor's appointments, and my mammo is due. It is easy to let stuff like that slide, when you get this distracted. Cannot drop the thread. We are both showing our age, and parts start wearing out!
Maybe the lesson from last week is that we can onlyudo but so much. New guy just called...twenty minutes early, which is a promising sign. Mike says never to hire someone who is late for an interview. He has never been wrong about that....

How did the interview go? Hoping he is the right fit and works out. Not fun being without help during a busy season. And Turkey is right about things happening for a reason... albeit making you sit in the heat for 2 hours is not a great thing.
