Lucky find!
Got an email over the weekend, from my best childhood friend. She wanted me to know my name had showed up in the Richmond paper last week, in the unclaimed property listings by the State Treasurer.
I went onto the agency's website, and found fifteen years' worth of dividends and some stock...there will be interest, too. In talking with the office this morning, I figured out it was a small stock issue made to former policyholders on our old health insurance company, when it was bought by Wellpointe, which was changed to Anthem Blue CrossBlue Shield of Virginia.
If the agent was correct about thr number of shares, the stock alone at today's price on the NYSE is worth over $2200... And then, there are the dividends and interest, too! I had bee feeling kind of guilty about soending so much on my greenhouse, but this will more than cover that luxury.
Lucky day for me...usually, I get bills or lawsuits.

Re: Lucky find!
Well, it was worth that before today's crash! This morning''s news said 401K's were taking a hit. I am already going to have to be a walmart greeter! Lucky you to find some "lost" money. I always hoped I would find my name. Sometimes I hear there are hoops to jump through, death certificates to find etc. Hopefully you won't have any problems.

Re: Lucky find!
Supposed to be simple...only had to photocopy driver's license, SS card or a tax document with SS number, which was what I had right in my office files, and complete a W-9 for any taxes due on the money.
I haven't looked at stock market numbers, except this stock's quote, about 11:00 this morning, and it was off some today. Most of our stuff is so diversified, and we really have our money in land, animals and equipment, plus rental properties...I don't rely on equities that much.
Hope it turns around for you. I couldn't greet the People of Walmart you see online with a straight face!
