Mens cologne
What is your favorite mens cologne. I want to buy some for my guy and haven't checked out any in years...I don't have time to check them all out...want to run into the store quick before a meeting and grab something...
What do you buy for your hubbys?

Re: Mens cologne
I don't use cologne as I find it a bit too strong. But, I have a favorite aftershave that I bought for myself. If you can find it, check out Crabtree & Evelyn. They make an aftershave lotion that is not alcohol based. Subtle fragrance, no stinging, & a little bit goes a long ways.

But guys dont want girls buying presents it s not expected. And even more so on the 14th of Feb, James,

Re: Mens cologne
I am finding the guys' responses interesting...because I don't like cologne on a man, either. I thought i Liked th atold British Sterling, as that is what Mike wore when we first dated...then later on down the road, found out I was actually responding to his own scent, and the cologne had nothing to do with it.
The teenagers at TKD spray down with that AXE body spray...and that smells like bug spray to me!

Re: Mens cologne
Good bit of reading in there Kay, Hope Cowgirl doesn't miss read me, was trying to say , if a girl friend had bought me a body spray, I may have thought , do I smell? . And British Sterling, that sounds like it could be from where I live but iv e never seen it. In my years iv e always preferred to use a nice soap and rely on the freshness of clean clothes, As I do in women as well. I think perfume only disguises the real woman, I recon many men would perhaps agree but would not dare to tell the Girl.
On a visit to the US I bought a small can of AXE, thinking it was anti-persperant , and not realizing it was body spray, Quite liked the smell actually ,and often sprayed a bit on before bed, Never did figure out why I had such a quiet nights sleep, and Kath was allways in the spare bed in the morning !!!

Re: Mens cologne
The sense of smell is the one that we can recall in memory the strongest and longest...it makes up a huge portion of our food preferences, and even cultural food traditions. I would be with Kath on moving out, if the scent of the man next to me on the next pillow suddenly shifted from clean soap to stinky fake pheromones.
I have always joked that I fell hard fo Mike the first time we went out, mostly because he smelled "right." Many years later, I read research that supported that intuition...females are supposed to select mates based a lot upon scent, having something to do with sensing a mate that will provide genetic diversity, and thus produce healthier offspring. Certainly worked for us!

Re: Mens cologne
OMG my youngest was really into Axe a couple of years ago. Used the body wash, shampoo and spray. He'd get ready for school in the morning and even though it was always at least an hour after he left his "cologne" was still lingering.
right now he has some Old Spice body wash. I can't even go into the bathroom after he's used it. Makes me want to gag.
Usually the smell of a good clean body is the best smell.

Re: Mens cologne
What irks me most about the AXE spray is that these teenaged guys spray it on thick enough to choke a maggot, but haven't showered first. NOTHING can improve on a stale, sweaty smell.

Re: Mens cologne
..I have to agree with you Kaye, if a guy doesn't bother to shower before using a cologne..he would probably knock a buzzard off a gutwagon at 80 paces. I've been a cologne user for a long time...but only when I'm going out in a more "dressed up" environment. My cologne of choice has been "Intuition" by Estee' Lauder. I recently ran out..and the local dept. store where I purchased the last bottle didn't have any...so I researched it on the 'net. I found that I didn't know as much about cologne as I thought I did. Apparently my cologne comes in about 4 different "grades" from a body spray..to a cologne who's scent is supposed to linger for at least 4 hours. I had been buying the middle of the road grade...which is supposed to last 2 hours. Maybe your nose is sensitive to the heavier types of scents...but I'm sure there's one somewhere that might please you. The fun part about colognes...is you can try them out at the department store to see if they please you. Next time you have a spare minute..stop by the perfume counter..and see if there is one that you like.
