First time I have ever heard of a hole punch injury...WOW! Sorry you got that bad a tear, but I can see exactly how it could happen.
You cannot help that you are going out for a while, and it is something DH will just have to deal with...it isn't like you planned to be injured. Just make sure you follow doctor's advice, and don't try to do too much too fast.
