New baby boy!
My daughter was induced Friday morning, but was not dialating well. Her blood pressure was fluctuating so they decided to do a C-section this morning.
MY first grandchilds name is Parker Ray. Weighing in at 6 lbs. 15 oz. He has inhaled some amniotic fluid so they are watching him close .
Im driving transit bus so I won't get to see him until tonight.
Its a relief as she has had low amniotic fluid the last two months and we were worried it might affect his umbilical cord.

Re: New baby boy!
Congratulations, Grandma!!!!!
Love that name for a young man...it will grow well with him into adulthood. Your daughter's circumstances at the end of the delivery sound TOO familiar. Your grandson and mine weighed the same, to the ounce.so, with them precisely a week apart, we will have a lot of notes to compare in the months to come.
Be ready for them to come home early next week...they don't keep them anytime now, it seems. Just slap the incision together with dissolving stitches, and shove them out the door. Let me share this encouragement...your daughter will be so much better feeling within a week, it will amaze you. Mine wanted to get her nails done yesterday, with a six-day old baby along for the ride.
Our little guy is growing already, too. Our two daughters figured out a way to weigh him with the lamb hanging scale last night (my idea: they made him a sling out of a handtowel and dangled it above the bed, in case their engineering failed), and it measured him as being back to birth weight already. Farm girls!!!
Warning: You are going to be blown away when you see your grandson. Our friends here were right about that!

Re: New baby boy!
Congratulations, Grandma!! You'll have such fun. It's like the saying, "if you'd known grandkids were so much fun you would have had them instead of your own kids".
Times have indeed changed. I had a C-section for both mine. Sliced me from pelvic to navel & then across inside. Have a roll of flesh that never leaves no matter how thin. And they kept me 5 days to a week!

Re: New baby boy!
I know that flap!!!
When Mike was worred about our daughter's condition when she came home, compared to mine, when our kids were delivered surgically. That was with nursery care for the infant the wholle time, except at nursings.
I had to remind him that I fought to get out in under a week...they shipped her out of the hospital in roughly 48 hours after she returned from recovery. She started really turning the corner about Wednesday, but is a long way from her old self yet.
To be honest, this is how healthcare facilities transfer so much responsibility to the family, and save money for the system.

Re: New baby boy!
I know! I had a hysterectomy and exploritory surgery and I don't think my stomach muscles were ever the same after that. At least thats the excuse I use...LOL
Im not sure I am a fan of inducing labor. It sure didn't work for my daughter, but both are doing well so won't complain.
