Re: New driver's license...bummer!

TF, you don't have to be old to realize that one should live in the moment. It only takes a few words or few seconds to change it forever. It makes worrying about a bad license picture ridiculous.

Re: New driver's license...bummer!

when a new hire brought his girlfriend to show around the place and she had been a classmate of my oldest daughter.

To top it off she's the first "cougar" I've ever met.  The whole deal just kind of freaked me out.

It was a little like oh back in the school year "01" "02" and my youngest was in 5th grade.  I picked him up for an appointment or something one day.   He has a little girl with him as he comes down the hall.  Keep in mind I was greying already back then.  Anyway he says "she just wanted to meet my "granma" mom.  So in visitng with her a little bit he brings up that his oldest sister was 18 when he was born.  And the little girl goes "my mom was 18 when I was born".  So funny, but I did feel kind of old that day.

Re: New driver's license...bummer!

Several things,

A couple weeks ago our daughter went with a friend to a theme park. The friends grandparents picked her up in the morning. When she got home she asked what year I graduated `cause her friends Grandpa thought I looked familiar. We looked in my old yearbook and he graduated a year after me.

Last December I joined the local volunteer fire dept. Started looking at the names above all the fire gear and only one of them is older than I am (by one year).

Re: New driver's license...bummer!

It does strike you when those little things happen, doesn't it? That was all I was trying to convey.

I have always been the oldest student in my do jhang. The gym I joined in February has all those Silver Sneakers folks. But I haven't seen anyone else but a couple of guys out in the greater workout area who appear to be about my age or a good deal older. Saw one guy who looks to be maybe late sixties the other day.

Did see a couple of women who aren't far behind me training with personal trainers yesterday. I left there, after warming up on the elliptical, and went to TKD. The next-oldest student there is a nursing supervisor ( male) who is 54.

He was all stoked from finishing an endurance event with his 16-year-old son this past weekend. He finished ninth out of 130 in the over - fifty crowd, in the top fifteen percent of more than 6000 participants overall. We joked that he is taking two weeks off to rest, then starting the year - long process of getting trained up for his next belt promotion test. I said that it will take all of the three years I have until my master's test, to get in good-enough shape to survive it.

It is what we make of it. You are still fighting fires, so that's great!
