Old TV?

Some of you mention your husbands enjoying the old westerns on ME TV.  Mike and I are sitting here, laughing out loud at an episode of Dennis the Menace right now.

These shows remind me that there are all sorts of levels of meaning in good entertainment.  Kids can laugh at this show, but there are adult issues playing out, too.

I have always felt this is how the old Disney movies kept families entertained for decades, too.  You can watch one as a child, and take away a whole different message as a teen or adult.

Mr. Wilson is evidently having a midlife crisis in this one.  I didn't realize people had them in the fifties and early sixties.

I had felt a kinship with Mr. Wilson when the little girl next door would burst out of the door over next door, and get into my yardwork.  It got to the point that I'd sneak out the back door, to evade her because she was one worrisome kid.

Which old-time TV character do you feel you have some things in common?

Re: Old TV?

Funny  Barney Fife was what popped into my head.

I actually fell asleep thinking about this and didn't come up with anything else.

Doris Kravitz (Bewitched) was the other character that kept coming to mind. Not Doris the name of the nutty neighbor who kept seeing was Samantha could do and no one would believe was Gladys

Re: Old TV?

I had a horse, trail to ride, and a gun (cap gun) and that is about all I had in common with Dale Evans, but I sure wanted to be her.  At this stage of the game, I have more in common with Mr. Magoo.

Re: Old TV?

Don Knotts was probably the funniest man in the world in that role.  One good thing about living in NC, you can almost always find a re-run of "Andy Griffith" playing somewhere.

I catch myself occasionally saying, "**bleep** it...**bleep** it in the bud!"

Re: Old TV?

I wish I could say Wonder Woman but that would be just not be true.

There is not very much new TV on that I really like..   just a handful of shows.  I really enjoy some of the older ones more.. even if I've seen them a million times.

Re: Old TV?

My husband loves Saturday night METV.   Wonder Woman and Star Trek.

Hate to admit it but I like to watch Emergency and CHIPS.   Oh to be young and a crush on those young hunks.     I seem to prefer  Tom Selleck in his newer more mature rolls rather than Magnum P.I.

Re: Old TV?

Sometimes I feel a kinship with Hazel.  Always scurrying around & trying to solve problems for everyone.  Or Edith Bunker.  Would like to have Samantha -Bewitched-or Jeanie' s magic bottle.  Agree about Tom Selleck.  He sure looks good for his age.  Or any age.  LOL
