Quiet and thinking...ramblings
We got two inches of rain in the night, and more is coming. Tomorrow is install day for the boiler we are moving to the kids' house. That's going to be a muddy mess, but at least the contractor is handling all of it. I will be on the road to that grower meeting most of the day.
Thinking that I want to go to VA this afternoon, sleep over up there tonight, since Winn is hanging with his Daddy tomorrow, so I can make my meeting trip. I need to clean the garden up for planting...I will be an entire week behind by this weekend. Have done most of the beds and flower plantings, but not but three tomato sets for food. Priorities!
Started a new " herb spiral" bed by the back walk the other day. It was pictured in my " Urban Farms" magazine this month. That whole " back to the Earth" movement must be waning...I guess the Yuppies found out farming is hard work...because this is their last- ever issue.
I liked this one, mostly because the projects in it were fairly smallscale, easy to execute in a day or a weekend. Interesting perspective, to read how non-ag people try to feed themselves, too. Guess they will be leaving it more up to us " professionals".
That makes my second magazine to fold in as many years. Newsweek online just doesn't cut it! Do any of you like e-magazines? I made the transition for most boojs, but I still want print magazines.
Getting really gray to the west. I just want to curl up and sleep, but I doubt my little BFF will be game for that. Teetering on that fine line between feeling too crummy to do anything, and doing too much, trying to catch up. With visible clouds of pine pollen keeping it real, un,ess it's raining, it is hard to get it in gear.

Re: Quiet and thinking...ramblings
Kay, it sounds like you really need to go to the doctor. I wouldn't fool around with that ear problem. Maybe a ENT specialist can help you.
I too just got a call that our DGS, age 10, is not popping back from his strepp infection so I'll have him here today. He came home from Easter break with temp & strepp, next was the younger sister to have it, then older sister got a virus, now he is back with strepp again or still. Think he needs tonsils out or something. He is a carrier I think. Has used all his school days up for absentee. I can't think how many times he's had it this year-need a 2nd opinion here-but what do I know. Mom is a nurse and totally trusts this pediatrician. Too much I think. Oldest grandaughter had her kidneys shut down & ended up in Ia. City Childrens hospital when she was 4. Aargh!
Mom is still in "Bounce Back" rehab. Ready to be released but I am concerned. Going to get Home Health Care to come in. So I need to get off here & make calls. Had hoped to get a weekend or one night away from everything but I don't know if that's going to happen. Our yearly birthday vacation weekend missed us this year I'm afraid. Still tethered to home even without cows or babies of our own. Whatever. God's plan not mine.

Re: Quiet and thinking...ramblings
It is a shame you are tied down! We did two separate 'one tank trips' over the week-end. I have been thinking this morning how nice that was after the long gray winter days. The trees were so pretty but after the hard rains yesterday and over night a lot of blooms are gone. Saturday we looked at barn quilts in a county south of here and yesterday DH was antique tool shopping again. We were gone three days to MO over spring break but I enjoyed the Sat and Sun trips more.
I too think the back to nature and growing your own vegetables is waning. As you stated too much work.

Re: Quiet and thinking...ramblings
Poor Winn had a good time playing at Chick-fil-a, with a little boy kindergarten age. The two of them did gr at together for 20-30 minutes. Then, the little girl went in, and in five minutes, had told him, " My daddy is a policeman, and he is going to come and take you away."
He came out of his frame over that...honestly, I wanted to go in and tie her pretty little yellow pony into a knot, and jerk it hard! We bundled on home, enjoyed the swings and a cool drink with PaPa. I had to keep him engaged with talk on the drive, so he could nap on a long drive with daughter. Their departure has turned me loose from now until Wednesday morning.
I will just be out of style...i am getting both gardens going this year!
