Re: Stories that won't die
The '''' Urban "" issues will be an on going boiling pot - maybe the issue of '''' cheap ''' labor from our previous generations won't be left to swept under the rug so easily ---

Re: Stories that won't die
The piece I read was supposedly written by a resident of that neighborhood. The story ran that it was a DJ setting up otside the pool fence, playing a lot of very vulgar musis, loaded with F bombs.
The word circulated that there was a pool party for teenagers, charging a $15 admission. None of this was with neighborhood permission. It is a private pool, so how does that get misconstrued?
Honestly, it sounds a lot like a setup to incite violence to me. A lot can be made of the age of this young female, but there is this whole "dare you to touch me" thing that is going on right now, in America, too.
I have heard news reports of communities where drug dealing goes totally unattended to by police, even when neighborhood residents call literally dozens of times to report it. This whole issue has many forms of backlash potential.

Re: Stories that won't die
Our news "media" right now is dumber than a box of rocks. And seem convinced that all stories and news needs to be "created"...
They are convinced that most of what is really going on is too boring to report......
If they didn't create it, or shape it, it is not important........ Amazing how they continue to be protected from liability.
Jenner is not a story, he or it should be ignored like every other self absorbed drug overdose or waisting away alcoholic......They are just characters in the carnival, doing whatever pays the tv bucks...
Reality TV has gone the trip all the way to Unreality TV........ all to sell the public into paying 100$ a month for programming...... because sports might not do it for you.......
Even a boring cooking show is turned into a competition where heart broke adult children are pitted against each other in hopes that a sharp object will be thrown to boost raitings....or someone will get poisoned... anything to get someone to change channel
I made the mistake once of changing to the Game show network and got a dose of how Family Fued is "spiced" up to attract viewers...
I am telling you the nothing to do, tv viewing crowd these days are sure a sick bunch..... 🙂

Re: Stories that won't die
Have been really busy lately & barely have time to check messages, Facebook, etc. Not having cable/satellite, I had never heard of the Duggards so barely blinked an eye to that story. Jenner story is one I really didn't need to see or hear.
Truthfully we are having trouble finding ANYTHING worth watching in the evening. Either reruns or trash. SYTYCD is a favorite of this former dance teacher but I cannot find much else this summer to watch unless I can catch something on PBS. Waiting for The Voice to start. If I am missing some worthwhile program I wish someone would tell me. I enjoy Deadliest Catch when we happen to catch a cable TV, but I am doing a lot of reading or else using Netflix. And I am SO upset that the Simpson's are separating. What trash we watch. Do you suppose they think we are idiots that cannot understand/enjoy intelligent programing?
Turkey, I feel the Christian issue also. Have gay/lesbian family members I love & respect but I never have it shoved in my face like on TV. Ok, someone blast me for that one.

Re: Stories that won't die
I am a lot of things in a lot of different political and philodophical directions, but none of them can explain how you can be paid by a state that permits gay marriages, but refuse to do your job in relation to that, on religious grounds.

Re: Stories that won't die
I disagree that it is a manufactured shortage. If the average hen lays an egg a day, and you destroy over five million at a pop, that is 35 million eggs shortage that week, and every week until a new laying flock can be brough online. That takes a good deal of leadtime, and there are surely production losses in the breeding and hatchery end, too.

Re: Stories that won't die
I heard that HY-Vee has been asked to not do any egg special for the foreseeable future. Haven't bought eggs in at least 2 weeks. Let you know later how high they are.

Re: Stories that won't die
.Don't know how high they are, but a gal I had lunch with today said she refused to buy & pay the price. She does egg beaters a lot and has those on hand for awhile.
I do think it is a real problem. Hopefully they will get it under control soon.

Re: Stories that won't die
You know Kay I don't listen to a thing "Dr. Phil" has to say anymore. Not since I say a show when he berated a grieving mother for making her child "unhappy" in heaven by grieving and not letting go of the hurt.
What I jerk. Lost all credibility for me that day.
I don't like the Amish stories. We know Amish and they are pretty much just like anyone. Yes they do have a differently outlook and attitude toward women, children and animals. But they are good and decent people for the most part. Course there are bad apples among them just like there are with us "English". To paint them with such a broad brush is not fair.
