I spent $100 on a sale at the antiques mall near us in NC on Friday, replacing the cabinet between the stove and refrigerator at Jenna's. The one I had grabbed in a hurry three years ago was just ratty.
It's doors were jimmied and wouldn't shut tight, the paint was off-white, just never looked clean, stuck between the two white appliances. A fresh coat of paint wasn't going to solve much, and would have meant days of all the pantry items spread all over the place. It was bad enough doing that for thirty minutes...I am getting really put off by disruptions these days.
At the price of paint, the fresh coat wasn't going to be a freebie, either. The old one will be okay holding supplies in the glass shop, but the bright white, well-aligned doors and extra shelf I gained in this one little move just made me smile, when I got the transfer finished.
Not a big deal like a new kitchen...or Suey's whole re-done house...but,it was one little thing that made me feel good this past difficult, lousy week. Casting my eyes around this family room in NC today, thinking thirty minutes spent decluttering my book stacks will boost my spirits, too.
Bookwork for the week is already done, so no excuses for escaping the housework, until a bridal shower midafternoon. Think I will start in here, then see what else would make me feel better about this place!
