When someone makes your day

As you all know I'm a sales agronomist for a company up in northeast North Dakota and I work hard at my job.  Most days I hear about too high of seed prices, too high of chemical prices etc. but today I had a father and son operation make my day.  I scouted for them last summer and worked through their fields and made recommendations on what to spray and whatnot to spray etc.  I worked closely with the son all summer and he thanked me time and again for giving my thoughts on this and that.  They don't buy alot of seed from me nor fetilizer but they do buy chemical for which I'm happy to scout their fields at no extra cost to them.  Anyways, today the father came in with a thank you card and a gift card for me.  The thank you card really made my day and the gift card is greatly appreciated to say the least but just the gesture of the thank you card made me realize how much I like my job and the farmers I work for.

Re: When someone makes your day

It's the little things that make your life and job more pleasureable than drudgery. We all should be thankful for those that brighten our day, even when we think we don't deserve it. Smiley Surprised

Re: When someone makes your day

The simple things in life are usually the best. I am so glad you had a great day, with such a nice surprise. I know in this fast world, we never stop to say thanks to people that really help us in so many ways. I worked as a customer service manager and shipping manager for 15 years, so I know what it feels like when most days are filled with people complaining. I remember one year on secretary day I received flowers from 5 different customers. I called and thanked each one and they said I did so much for them, they just wanted me to know they appreciated it. I think the old saying is true, you get more bees with honey than vinegar. 🙂

Re: When someone makes your day

Reminds me of 25 years ago when I was in the seed business.  One of Grandma's cousins bought 60 bags of beans from me and he and I both knew it was just because he was Grandma's cousin.  After harvest that fall he sent me a gift certificate to a nice restaurant with a note thanking me for selling him those beans, They were the highest yielding on the farm.

Over the years I've known you here, I can say that anyone who has you for a rep is well-attended-to, for sure.   It is nice that this family has the great manners to let you know in such a thoughtful way.

It is nice to know that what you do in your job is appreciated. It would be nice if everyone showed their appreciation.

Re: When someone makes your day

A couple of years ago, one of my new year's intentions was to write more thank you notes.  It is a habit I've attempted to continue.

I keep some pretty note cards handy in the house and the office, and will just jot down a quick acknowledgement to someone every so often and drop it in the mail.  Next time I encounter the recipient, they will either thanl me for the note, or they just cannto help me any better, like they are just living up to their former excellent level of servicem adn just a bit more.

I try to leav Mike note that thank him for things he's done for me, too.  Never hurts,
