Re: Wife birthday ideas

Any of the larger metro areas that are close for you.  Minneapolis/St. Paul, Sioux Falls, Sioux City, not sure how far you are from Kansas City or St. Louis, the Quads.  Is there something that she enjoys such as theater?  Look at hotels for a package....if you or she likes Japanese foods Ichibons in the cities is great....a little pricey but yummy.

Re: Wife birthday ideas

Guess I should clarfify a little.  True, DH isn't much of a traveler; not a long distance driver but when we go to different functions or places he has balked at, guess who enjoys the most.  Never initiates a conversation but for instance at Expo if I start conversations I can't get him to shut up & leave!  LOL  I wouldn't make him go where there was nothing for him to enjoy plus I've paid my dues going to farm activities.  My turn for a change.

Linda my dad is the same way.  He balked at going to Medora, ND for their musical when they came out for a visit and we did western ND and the Peace Gardens.  He wanted only to see the oilfields.  LOL  Now he won't be quiet about Medora OR the Peace Gardens.  Cracks me up every time I think about it.  😄

Re: Wife birthday ideas

This thread reminds me that Mike would never agree to take vacations years ago, when the kids were young and they needed the experiences of camping, touring the historic places they had studied in school, etc. He just grew up in a family thst never went anywhere....

So did I, but I was determined ours would have a bit broader view of things. It started with mecollecting the stuff needed for tent camping. He finally decided that he should go along on our first planned campout, just to " protect" us. That turned into us buying a pop-up camper and getting away at least a few times. Then, his gather got too frail to feed for us, and we were stuck home again.

This farm tied us down even worse. Buying our bikes nine years ago got us going a little bit again. Our trip last week, which was really just for a day away, a day in Va close to home, was very rejuvenating. I think it did him a world of good emotionally...both daughter and I commented on it to each other on Friday. Geting him to set aside those two days was like pulling teeth, though.

It is probably like so many things. The one who needs it most is the hardest yo get to budge.
